The 1999 South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Grand Final saw the Port Adelaide Magpies defeat the Norwood Redlegs by 8 points. Andrew Obst
Andrew Obst (born 19 August 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Port Adelaide (1987–1989, 1988–1999) Obst started his career in the South Australian Amateur Football League, representing the Australian Amateurs team at the 1988 Adelaide Bicentennial Carnival before playing for Port Adelaide. Steven Pitt (born 22 July 1973) is a former Australian rules football player. Pitt played with the Melbourne Football Club and Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He also played for Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Early life Pitt began playing senior SANFL football for Norwood in his late teens. Anthony Harvey (footballer)
Anthony Harvey (born 25 May 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Norwood in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Harvey comes from a famous sporting family with his grandfather Merv Harvey and granduncle Neil Harvey both being Australian Test cricket representatives. His brother Robert is St Kilda's games record holder. A midfielder, Harvey was recruited to St Kilda from Frankston and his four AFL appearances consisted of just one win, against Fitzroy at Waverley Park. James Thiessen
James Thiessen (born 10 February 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), as well as Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). His father Tony had played league football three decades earlier. Playing mainly on the wing, Thiessen started his AFL career at Richmond in 1993, debuting in a 139-point loss to his future club , but was delisted after just one season. He spent the next four years with Norwood in the SANFL, playing in their 1997 premiership side and also winning a Fos Williams Medal that year for his performance for South Australia in an interstate match against the ACT. Jarrod Cotton
Jarrod Cotton (born 3 April 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL). A half forward flanker originally from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) team Central District, Cotton played in consecutive losing SANFL Grand Finals in 1995 and 1996. He was recruited by Port Adelaide as a zone selection in their inaugural league season in 1997. Scott Bassett
Scott Bassett (born 9 October 1978) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club and the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League, and Norwood in the South Australian National Football League. Scott was one of the inaugural members of Port Adelaide's squad when they entered the AFL, as the team was allowed to select players from the SANFL for their starting team. He was drafted from the Norwood Football Club. He was drafted onto the rookie list for the club. He however did not play a match in the first two seasons on the Port Adelaide list, making his debut against Collingwood in Round 14, 1999, but did not play again in that year. Brett Chalmers (born 23 April 1973) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League. A highly rated player from Port Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League, Chalmers was first drafted to the VFL/AFL by the Richmond Football Club with the No. 103 selection in the 1989 VFL draft; however, Chalmers never took up the offer and remained in the SANFL for the next three years. After Richmond's claim to him expired, he nominated for the 1992 AFL National Draft, and was selected by the Collingwood Football Club with the No. 10 selection. Nigel Fiegert (born 28 January 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL). A defender, Fiegert was a foundation player for Port Adelaide, signed up as one of their zone selections in the 1996 AFL Draft. He missed selection for Port Adelaide's round one fixture but made his debut the following week in their first ever game at Football Park, against Essendon. Not selected for the next nine weeks, Fiegert kicked three goals on his return, playing as a forward against the Western Bulldogs. Jared Poulton (born 21 April 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. Debuting with the Port Adelaide Football Club in 1999, he was noted as an impact player and when Port was playing well in 2004. Poulton cemented his spot in the side until a hamstring injury led him to miss the finals series of that year and ultimately, a premiership win.
