1999 North Queensland Cowboys Season
The 1999 North Queensland Cowboys season was the 5th in the club's history. Coached by Tim Sheens and captained by Noel Goldthorpe, they competed in the National Rugby League. Season summary Despite undergoing another roster clean-out in the off-season, the Cowboys endured a rough season. After starting the year with a bye, the club went on a five-game losing streak. One of the few positive periods of their season then followed, with a 24-0 win over the Auckland Warriors followed by a 20-20 draw with the Brisbane Broncos and a 20-14 win over the Balmain Tigers. The victory over the Warriors was the first time in club history that they had held a side scoreless. Following the win over Balmain in Round 9, the club won just two of their next 16 games. The Round 25 victory over the Western Suburbs Magpies turned out to be the club's most important game of the season. 1999 NRL Season
The 1999 NRL season was the 92nd season of professional rugby league football in Australia, and the second to be run by the National Rugby League. With the exclusion of the Adelaide Rams and Gold Coast Chargers, and the joint venture of the St. George Dragons and Illawarra Steelers, seventeen teams competed for the NRL Premiership during the 1999 season, which culminated in the first grand final to be played at Stadium Australia. The St. George Illawarra Dragons, the first joint-venture club to appear in the grand final, played against the Melbourne Storm, who won the premiership in only their second season. Paul Green (rugby League)
Paul Gregory Green (12 September 1972 – 11 August 2022) was an Australian professional rugby league football coach, best known for taking the North Queensland Cowboys to the NRL premiership in 2015, and a professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played for Cronulla-Sutherland, North Queensland Cowboys, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and the Brisbane Broncos, winning the Rothmans Medal in 1995. He was a Queensland State of Origin and Australian international representative halfback. As a coach Green guided the North Queensland club to their first premiership in 2015 and to another grand final two years later. Ben Rauter
Ben Rauter (born 6 January 1979) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and current assistant coach of the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL). A or er, played for the Canberra Raiders, Cowboys and the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. Background Rauter attended Erindale College before being signed by the Canberra Raiders. Chad Halliday
Chad Halliday in an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. Playing career Halliday made his first grade debut for Eastern Suburbs known now as the Sydney Roosters in Round 22 1997 against the North Sydney Bears scoring a try in a 29-20 victory at the Sydney Football Stadium. In 1999, Halliday joined North Queensland and scored a try on debut for his new club against the Balmain Tigers in Round 3 1999. Brett Hetherington is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Canberra Raiders and North Queensland Cowboys. Playing career Hetherington made his debut for Canberra in Round 1 of the 1992 season against Penrith. In 1994, Hetherington played 24 matches for the club including the 1994 36-12 grand final victory over Canterbury-Bankstown. As of 2019, this has been Canberra's last premiership win. Hetherington played 16 matches the following season as Canberra reached the preliminary final but fell short of another grand final appearance losing to Canterbury 25-6. Jody Gall (born 6 June 1974) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Penrith Panthers and the North Queensland Cowboys in the NRL. Darrien Doherty (born ) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He is one of three players to date (the others being Tyran Smith and Blake Green) to play first grade for a record seven different NRL clubs.
