1999 National Soccer League Grand Final
The 1999 National Soccer League Grand Final, also known as the 1999 Ericsson Cup Grand Final, was held on 30 May 1999 between South Melbourne and Sydney United at Olympic Park Stadium. South Melbourne gained home advantage as although Sydney United finished higher in the regular season, South Melbourne won the major semi-final against them two weeks prior. Mile Sterjovski scored first for United as they went up 1–0 at the half time break, however, a goal from Paul Trimboli and a brace from John Anastasiadis sealed South Melbourne's second consecutive championship and fourth overall. Goran Lozanovski won the Joe Marston Medal. Background Sydney United finished the season with the minor premiership through a 3–1 win over the Adelaide Sharks on the final day of the season. Fausto De Amicis
Fausto De Amicis (born 26 June 1968) is an Australian former soccer player. He was a member of the Australian national team that scored a record 31 goals against American Samoa in a FIFA World Cup qualifier. Overall, De Amicis was involved in four National Soccer League title winning sides, twice with the Melbourne Knights, and twice with South Melbourne. In the latter's 1998 Grand Final win over Carlton, De Amicis was awarded the Joe Marston Medal for best afield. Michael Petkovic
Michael Petkovic (born 16 July 1976) is an Australian former goalkeeper. Club career Petkovic is of Croatian origin and is the brother of former Perth Glory goalkeeper Jason Petkovic. South Melbourne Petkovic started off his career with South Melbourne in the NSL as a 19-year-old. As the second choice to youth product Dean Anastasiadis, Petkovic was relegated to cup games for game time. Petkovic however took advantage of his limited opportunities and produced numerous man of the match performances in South Melbourne's successful NSL Cup run in the 1995/96 Season. Following this season, Petkovic would reclaim the number 1 spot and establish himself as one of Australia's finest goalkeepers as he earned half of his Socceroos caps during his time at South Melbourne. Falcons 2000 Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the regional Victorian city of Morwell. Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. The club has been crowned Australian champion four times.
