The 1999 Major League Soccer College Draft was held on February 6 and 7, 1999 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Major League Soccer
Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. The league comprises 29 teams—26 in the U.S. and 3 in Canada—since the 2023 season. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan. Major League Soccer is the most recent in a series of men's premier professional national soccer leagues established in the United States and Canada. The predecessor of MLS was the North American Soccer League (NASL), which existed from 1968 until 1984. Josh Keller
Josh Keller (born February 16, 1975, in Laguna Niguel, California) is a retired American soccer midfielder who spent four seasons in Major League Soccer. Keller attended UCLA, playing on the men's soccer team from 1994 to 1997. In 1997, he was captain of the team when it won the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in psychology and business. In March 1998, the Tampa Bay Mutiny selected Keller in the first round (seventh overall) in the 1998 MLS College Draft. He played nine games for the Mutiny in 1998 before being traded to the Chicago Fire on June 29, 1998, in exchange for Jorge Salcedo. He played six games for the Fire that season. He also went on loan with the Charleston Battery of the USL A-League for four games. On March 17, 1999, the Fire traded Keller back to the Mutiny. Andrew Mittendorf
Andrew Mittendorf is an American football (soccer) player played professionally in the United States and Sweden. Youth Mittendorf attended Lehigh University, playing on the men' soccer team from 1995 to 1998. He began his collegiate career as a defender and ended it as a high scoring forward. He was the 1997 Patriot League Player of the Year. His senior season, he led the NCAA in goals per game. In 1999, he was named to the Patriot League Men's Soccer All-Decade team. The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. Founded in 1995, as part of the Anschutz Corporation, later to be a founding sports franchise of the global sports & entertainment juggernaut AEG, the club is a founding member of MLS, playing their first season in 1996. John Wolyniec
John Wolyniec (born January 24, 1977) is an American professional soccer coach and former player. During his playing days, Wolyniec played for Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls three separate times: In 1999 as the MetroStars, from 2003 to 2005 as the MetroStars, and from 2006 until he retired in 2010. He also played for MLS clubs Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew, and Los Angeles Galaxy. The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut, a village in the town of Mansfield. Bobby Rhine (April 18, 1976 – September 5, 2011) was an American soccer player who last played for FC Dallas of Major League Soccer. Rhine played college soccer at the University of Connecticut from 1994 to 1998. In 1997, he redshirted his senior season in order to complete his master's degree requirements. In 1998, he returned for his last season, earning second-team All-American recognition. In February 1999, the Dallas Burn selected Rhine in the first round (sixth overall) in the 1999 MLS College Draft. During his Dallas career, Rhine filled a variety of positions as an on-and-off starter, usually playing up front or in the midfield.
