The 1999 AFL season was the 103rd season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured sixteen clubs, ran from 25 March until 25 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the Kangaroos (formerly known as North Melbourne) for the fourth time, after it defeated by 35 points in the 1999 AFL Grand Final. AFL Draft ''See 1999 AFL Draft.'' 1999 AFL Grand Final
The 1999 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the North Melbourne Football Club, Kangaroos and Carlton Football Club, Carlton at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 25 September 1999. It was the 103rd annual AFL Grand Final, grand final of the Australian Football League (formerly the Victorian Football League), staged to determine the List of AFL premiers, premiers for the 1999 AFL season. The match, attended by 94,228 spectators, was won by the Kangaroos by a margin of 35 points (the second consecutive year in which the premiership decider was determined by that margin). Princes Park (or Carlton Recreation Ground, currently known by its sponsored name Ikon Park) is an Australian rules football ground located inside the wider Princes Park in the inner Melbourne suburb of Carlton North. The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL).
