Mansfield is a market town and the administrative centre of Mansfield District in Nottinghamshire, England. It is the largest town in the wider Mansfield Urban Area (followed by Sutton-in-Ashfield). Mark Peters (born 6 July 1972) is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a defender. He made over 230 appearances in the Football League. Career Playing career Peters began his career as a trainee at Manchester City in 1990 before spending the 1992–93 season at Norwich City. He moved to Peterborough United in August 1993, where he made his first team debut in 1993. Spells at Mansfield Town and Rushden & Diamonds between 1994 and 2003 yielded over 200 appearances with 18 goals. He joined Rushden in May 1999 and helped them win the Conference National title in 2001 and to promotion to Division Two (now League One) in 2003. Steven James Harper (born 3 February 1969) is an English former footballer who scored 54 goals in 504 league games in a 15-year career in the Football League. He was a speedy winger, adept at dribbling the ball. He began his professional career at Port Vale in June 1987, before he was sold to Preston North End for £35,000 in March 1989. He joined Burnley on a free transfer in July 1991, and helped the "Clarets" to win the Fourth Division title in 1991–92. Darrell James Clarke (born 16 December 1977) is an English professional football manager and former player who played in the English Football League. He is the manager of club Port Vale. A box-to-box midfielder, Clarke began his career with Mansfield Town in 1995, where he spent the first six years of his career, making 173 league and cup appearances. In 2001, he transferred to Hartlepool United, where he spent another six years, making a further 136 appearances.
