The 1998–99 2. Bundesliga season was the twenty-fifth season of the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of the German football league system. Arminia Bielefeld, SpVgg Unterhaching and SSV Ulm 1846 were promoted to the Bundesliga while FC Gütersloh, KFC Uerdingen 05, SG Wattenscheid 09 and Fortuna Düsseldorf were relegated to the Regionalliga. DSC Arminia Bielefeld (; full name: ; commonly known as Arminia Bielefeld (), also known as ''Die Arminen'' or ''Die Blauen'' ), or just Arminia (), is a German sports club from Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. Arminia offers the sports of football, field hockey, figure skating, and cue sports. The club has 12,000 members and the club colours are black, white and blue. SC Fortuna Köln is a German association football club based in the city of Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia. History The club was formed as on 21 February 1948 through the merger of three local sides: Victoria Köln 1911 (one of two clubs to bear the name), Bayenthaler SV 1920, and Sparkassen-Verein Köln 1927. Of these clubs, Victoria had the best results, winning its way to the first division of the Gauliga Köln-Aachen in 1941 and capturing the division title there the following season. Bayenthaler SV 1920 side also spent a season in the Gauliga in 1943–44 before the division collapsed as war overtook the region. In 1976, SC Fortuna Köln was joined by FC Alter Markt Köln. Dragan Trkulja (; born 30 September 1964) is a Serbian football manager and former player. Playing career Trkulja played for Novi Sad during the 1984–85 Yugoslav Second League. He later joined Bečej, helping the club win the Yugoslav Second League in the 1991–92 season, contributing with 14 goals in 30 appearances. In the summer of 1992, Trkulja moved abroad and signed with SSV Ulm 1846 in the German fourth division, helping them earn promotion to the Bundesliga within seven seasons. He was the top scorer in the 1995–96 Regionalliga with 25 goals. Following the club's relegation to the German fifth division due to licensing problems, Trkulja remained with the club and helped them beat Bundesliga side 1. Arie Van Lent
Arie van Lent (born 31 August 1970) is a Dutch former professional footballer, who played as a forward. He was most recently the manager of SpVgg Unterhaching. Playing career At the age of 12, van Lent played for the youth team of Sparta 57 Opheusden. In his youth, he dreamed of being with Ajax Amsterdam or PSV Eindhoven. He spent much professional career as a journeyman in Germany, mostly on the bench of Werder Bremen or featuring for second-division sides and below. In 1997, he famously scored four goals in Werder Bremen's 3–2 home win in the Bundesliga against 1. FC Köln, one of which was an own goal. Later, he became a regular in the Bundesliga with Borussia Mönchengladbach. In 2004, van Lent joined the then-second division side Eintracht Frankfurt and became their vice captain and leading scorer (16 goals) in their promotion campaign. 1999–2000 Regionalliga
The 1999–2000 Regionalliga was the sixth season of the Regionalliga as the third tier of German football. It was also the last season to be competed in four divisions. Teams were not only competing for promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, but also to qualify for the new two-division Regionalliga. As in the previous seasons there were four divisions: Nord, Nordost, West/Südwest and Süd. Each division comprised 18 teams, with the exception of the West/Südwest division that had 20. Nord VfL Osnabrück was promoted to 2nd Bundesliga by beating 1. FC Union Berlin in the play-offs. VfB Lübeck, Eintracht Braunschweig, SV Wilhelmshaven, SV Werder Bremen Amateure and Lüneburger SK qualified for the new two-division Regionalliga. The 1999–2000 Bundesliga was the 37th season of the Bundesliga, Germany's premier football league. It began on 13 August 1999 and ended on 20 May 2000. FC Bayern Munich were the defending champions. Competition modus Every team played two games against each other team, one at home and one away. Teams received three points for a win and one point for a draw. If two or more teams were tied on points, places were determined by goal difference and, if still tied, by goals scored. The modern-day football department, officially playing as SSV Ulm 1846 Fussball, was formed on 9 March 2009 when the department separated from SSV Ulm 1846. KFC Uerdingen 05 is a German football club in the Uerdingen district of the city of Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. Stuttgarter Kickers is a German association football club that plays in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, founded on 21 September 1899 as FC Stuttgarter Cickers. History In its early years the club had a decent local squad that played in the Südkreis-Liga, Kreisliga Württemberg and then in the Bezirksliga Württemberg.
