1998 Tippeligaen
The 1998 Tippeligaen was the 54th completed season of top division association football, football in Norway. Each team played 26 games with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. Number thirteen and fourteen are relegated, number twelve has to play two qualification matches (home and away) against number three in the 1. divisjon, first division (where number one and two are directly promoted) for the last spot. Roar Strand
Roar Strand (born 2 February 1970) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder, mostly for Rosenborg. Strand was capped 42 times for the Norway national team. He is the player with the fourth-highest number of appearances in the Norwegian top division. He has won 16 league titles, more than any other player in history and the Norwegian Football Cup five times, and he has scored goals in 21 consecutive top flight seasons. Club career Strand was born in Trondheim and played for Rosenborg his whole career, except for the 1993 season when he was loaned out to Molde FK, from he made his debut in 1989 till he retired in 2010. He mostly played as midfielder but as an allrounder he also played as winger and wingback. Strand won the Norwegian top division 16 times (11 consecutive) as well as the Norwegian Football Cup five times with Rosenborg. Raymond Kvisvik
Raymond Kvisvik (born 8 November 1974) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a winger. He is most noted for his spells at Brann, but he did also play for Moss, Austria Wien and Fredrikstad. Kvisvik won the Norwegian Cup with Brann in 2004 and with Fredrikstad in 2006. He was capped eleven times for Norway scoring two goals. Club career Hailing from Greåker outside Sarpsborg, Kvisvik started his professional career at Moss in 1997, before he transferred to Brann in June 1998. In his Brann-debut, Kvisvik scored the equalizing goal in the 1–1 draw against Lillestrøm and he was given much of the honor when Brann avoided relegation in the 1998 season. He was also a part of the team that lost the Final of the 1999 Norwegian Cup and finished second in the 2000 Tippeligaen. Kjetil Løvvik
Kjetil Løvvik (born 16 October 1972) is a retired Norwegian footballer. He played for Skjold IL, SK Nord and FK Haugesund in his early career, before being sold to SK Brann in 1996. Jahn Ivar Jakobsen, nicknamed Mini, (born 8 November 1965 in Gravdal) is a Norwegian former football player (winger/forward) who has played for, amongst others, Bodø/Glimt and Rosenborg. Club career During the very early years of his career, Jakobsen played at Junkeren and Grand Bodø, two minor Norwegian clubs in the town of Bodø. Mini's actual professional career as a footballer started at the well-known Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt. When he arrived at the club, Bodø/Glimt played in the third division (the third highest division in Norway at the time), but did gain promotion in 1986. Andreas Lund
Torkjell Andreas Lund (born 7 May 1975), known as Andreas Lund, is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a striker. Club career Lund had a successful career in Norway and scoring 55 league goals in 96 matches for IK Start and Molde FK. For the latter, he scored four goals in the 1999–2000 UEFA Champions League: the first in the second leg of the third qualifying round against Mallorca, which was the club's first away goal at the UEFA Champions League and also granted a spot at the group stage in their debut appearance and three against Olympiacos (one at Greece and two at home). Jostein Flo
Jostein Flo (born 3 October 1964) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a forward. Usually a centre-forward or striker, he was known for his physical playing style and aerial dominance, and was also capable of playing on the right flank. He was most recently Director of Football in Strømsgodset. Career At club level, Flo usually played as a centre-forward. For the Norwegian national team, he also acted as a target man, but instead played right winger, and was instrumental for the tactics applied by former Norway coach Egil Olsen. Playing a characteristic 4–5–1 formation, the left back would often hit long crosses to Flo, who in turn would head the ball to either one of the central midfielders or to the striker. Petter Belsvik
Petter Belsvik (born 2 October 1967) is a Norwegian football coach and former player, who played as a striker. With 159 goals in the Norwegian Premier League he ranks third in the all-time goalscorer statistics, behind Harald Brattbakk. He never appeared for the Norwegian national team. Playing career Belsvik is a so-called journeyman footballer, with spells in many clubs. He started his career in Faaberg, and played top league football for Molde, HamKam, Start, Stabæk, Rosenborg, Vålerenga and Lillestrøm. At the end of his career as a footballer he also had a short stay at the Norwegian amateur side Heming. His impact on football abroad has been limited, with only short spells in Southend United, AaB and Austria Vienna. Rune Lange
Rune Lange (born 24 June 1977) is a Norwegian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Lange hails from the city of Tromsø and joined the club Fløya at the age of five. As a 17-year-old, he became top scorer in the 3. divisjon (fourth tier) with 33 goals in 22 matches, and then moved on to play for Tromsdalen in the 1. divisjon (2nd tier). Lange stayed with the club for three seasons, during which he experienced a relegation and a season in the 2. divisjon (3rd tier). During the summer of 1997, Lange signed for Tromsø, which played in the Tippeligaen (first tier). He scored seven goals in 11 matches for Tromsø during his first season, and nearly experienced another relegation, but Tromsø survived after having to play qualification matches. Sigurd Rushfeldt
Sigurd Rushfeldt (born 11 December 1972) is a Norwegian football coach and former player who works as an assistant coach for Tromsø. During his playing career, he played for Tromsø, Birmingham City, Rosenborg, Racing de Santander, and Austria Wien. As a forward, he is well known for his strength and for being a prolific goalscorer. Rushfeldt is the all-time top goal scorer of Eliteserien. Rushfeldt scored 246 league goals in his career, including a record 172 in Eliteserien. Club career Early career and Tromsø Rushfeldt was born in Vadsø, where he started his career in Vadsø Turn and Norild. He was noticed by Tromsø, which signed him in 1992.
