The 1998 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 9 to 18 September 1998 in Cologne, Germany. Fühlinger See
Fühlinger See is a series of connected lakes in the Cologne suburb of Fühlingen Fühlingen is a village in the northern part of the city of Cologne. It is part of the Stadtbezirk, borough of Chorweiler. Fühlingen is well known for its artificial lake, Fühlinger See. Brett Hayman
Brett Hayman (born 3 May 1972 in Melbourne) is an Australian three time world champion, a dual Olympian and an Australian national champion rowing coxswain. He won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics steering the Australian men's eight. He coxed Australian crews at every premier world rowing regatta from 1993 to 2000. Club and state rowing Hayman's senior coxing was initially from the Yarra Yarra Rowing Club in Melbourne and then the Mercantile Rowing Club. Later when he took an AIS scholarship he rowed from the Daramalan Rowing Club in Canberra. Hayman's first Victorian state representative call-up was to the 1991 Victorian youth eight which contested the Noel Wilkinson Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. James Tomkins (rower)
James Bruce Tomkins, (born 19 August 1965) is an Australian rower, seven-time World Champion and a three-time Olympic gold medalist. He is Australia's most awarded oarsman, having made appearances at six Olympic games (for three gold and one bronze medal); eleven World Championships (for seven world titles including one in each of the five sweep oar events); four Rowing World Cups (for two titles) and eighteen state representative King's Cup appearances – the Australian blue riband men's VIII event, (for fifteen victories, ten as stroke). Tomkins is one of only five Australian athletes and four rowers worldwide to compete at six Olympics. Nicholas David Green OAM (born 4 October 1967) is an Australian former rower, a dual Olympic gold medallist and four time World Champion. From 1990 to 1998 he was a member of Australia's prominent world class crew – the coxless four known as the Oarsome Foursome. Now a sports administrator, since 2014 he has been Chief Executive of Cycling Australia.
