1998 World Aquatics Championships
The 8th FINA World Championships or the 1998 World Aquatics Championships were held from 8 to 17 January 1998 in Perth, Western Australia. The championships features competition in all five of FINA's disciplines: Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronised swimming and Open Water Swimming. The main venue for competition was Challenge Stadium, which hosted all disciplines save Open Water. Michael Klim was named as the leading male swimmer of the meet, winning the 200 m freestyle, 100 m butterfly, 4×200 m freestyle, 4×100 m medley relay, as well as silver in the 100 m freestyle, 4×100 m freestyle relay and bronze in the 50 m freestyle. Ian Thorpe became the youngest ever male to become world champion when he won the 400 m freestyle event aged 15 years and three months. Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Troy Dumais
Troy Matthew Dumais (born January 21, 1980) is an American competitive diver from California. Dumais has competed for the United States at four Olympic Games, winning a team bronze medal in the synchronized 3m in 2012. He attended the University of Texas at Austin. Life and career Dumais was raised in a family of divers and swimmers, and in 1994 was named Southern Pacific Association Diver of the Year in his class, as were all his siblings. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, Dumais finished 6th in the men's springboard and 4th in the men's synchronized springboard with David Pichler. Sun Shuwei (; born February 1, 1976, in Jieyang, Guangdong) is a famous Chinese diver. Sun started diving training in 1984. As a talented athlete, he entered China national diving team in 1989. In 1990, he won the gold medal in the 10 meter platform in Asian Games. In next year, he won gold metals in both Diving World Cup and World Diving Championship.
