The 1998 Trophée Lalique was the fourth event of six in the 1998–99 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris on November 20–22. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. The 1998–99 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final was an elite figure skating competition held in Saint Petersburg, Russia from March 5 through 7, 1999. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The Grand Prix Final was the culminating event of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, which consisted of Skate America, Skate Canada International, Sparkassen Cup on Ice, Trophée Lalique, Cup of Russia, and NHK Trophy competitions. Elena Liashenko ( uk, Олена Анатоліївна Ляшенко ''Olena Anatoliyivna Liashenko''; russian: Елена Анатольевна Ляшенко; born 9 August 1976) is a Ukrainian former competitive figure skater. She is a three-time European medalist (silver in 2004, bronze in 1995 and 2005) and won nine medals on the Grand Prix series, including three golds (1998 Skate Canada International, 2003 Cup of Russia, and 2003 Cup of China). Vanessa Gusmeroli (born 19 September 1978) is a French former competitive figure skater and water skier. As a skater, she is the 1997 World bronze medalist and a three-time (2000–02) French national champion. Personal life Gusmeroli was born on 19 September 1978 in Annecy, Haute-Savoie, France. She and French ice dancer Mathieu Jost are the parents of a daughter, born in 2009. Skating career Vanessa Gusmeroli began skating at age seven in Annecy. Nicole Bobek (born August 23, 1977) is a retired American figure skater. She is the 1995 U.S. national champion and 1995 World bronze medalist. She also competed at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Angelo Dolfini (born 8 October 1978 in Pavia) is an Italian former competitive figure skater. Sven Meyer (15 July 1977 – 6 May 1999) was a German figure skater. He was the 1998 Karl Schäfer Memorial bronze medalist and 1998 German national champion. Career Meyer began skating at age four. During his career, he trained in Berlin and represented Berliner TSC. Viola Striegler coached him for over ten years. Meyer began the 1997–98 season with a 12th-place result at the Karl Schäfer Memorial, an Olympic qualifying event held in October 1997. Roman Skorniakov (russian: Роман Скорняков; born 17 February 1976, in Sverdlovsk) is a Russian-born figure skater who mainly represented Uzbekistan. He represented Russia early in his career before switching to Uzbekistan in 1996. Skorniakov is the 1997–2003 Uzbekistani national champion. Andrejs Vlaščenko (russian: Андрей Влащенко; born 15 June 1974) is a figure skater who represented Latvia (1992–94) and Germany (1994–04).
