1998 Thai Premier League
The 1998 Thai Premier League consisted of 12 teams. The bottom club would be relegated to the Thailand Division 1 League. The club that came 11th would play in a relegation / promotion match against the club that came second in the Thailand Division 1 League Defending Champions Royal Thai Air Force should have entered the next edition of the Asian Club Championship, but refused due to lack of funding. BEC Tero Sasana took their place. The league was also known as the Caltex Premier League. Thai Premier League
The Thai League 1 ( th, ไทยลีก 1), often referred to as T1, is the top level of the Thai football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Thai League 2. Seasons run from August to May, with each team playing 30 games (playing all 15 other teams both home and away). It is sponsored by Toyota Motor Thailand and therefore officially known as the Hilux Revo Thai League. In the Thai League, most of the games are played during Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played on Wednesdays and Fridays. Thai Farmers Bank FC
Thai Farmers Bank Football Club ( th, สโมสรฟุตบอลธนาคารกสิกรไทย) was a Thai football club based in Bangkok and was owned by Thai Farmers Bank. They won two AFC Champions League titles in 1994 and 1995. Due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the club sponsor's stock price dropped 49%, which resulted in them being taken over by foreign investors. The financial crisis went on, so in 2000, the club folded. Ronnachai Sayomchai
Ronnachai Sayomchai ( th, รณชัย สยมชัย; born 14 September 1966) is a Thai retired footballer. He is currently assistant head coach Thai League 1 club of Port. He is a former player of Thai Port F.C., and in 1998 he was the Thai League's top scorer with 23 goals for the season. This record for Thai league stands for 14 years until Teerasil Dangda broke it in 2012 with 25 goals. Ronnachai also played in Malaysia for Pahang FA. The 1998–99 Asian Club Championship was the 18th edition of the annual international club football competition held in the AFC region (Asia). The Thai FA Cup ( th, ไทยเอฟเอคัพ), known officially as The Football Association of Thailand Cup, is a football cup competition in Thailand. Thai FA Cup is an annual knockout association football competition in men's domestic football. It was held between 1974 and 1999 and relaunched in 2009. Raj Vithi won the first two editions. In 2009 it was announced that the Thai FA Cup would return to the Thai football calendar. All the teams from the Thai League 1 and Division 1 League were automatically entered and teams from the Division 2 League as well as university and schools teams could apply to enter. The qualifying round took place from 27–30 June. The first round proper will see sixteen qualifiers progress to the second round where they will each meet a Division 1 side.
