1998 New Orleans Saints Season
The 1998 New Orleans Saints season was the team's 32nd as a member of the National Football League (NFL). The Saints failed to qualify for the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, and after a promising start of 3–0 only equalled their 6–10 record of the previous season. In the process the Saints lost to the 0–7 Carolina Panthers and were to follow this up the following season against the expansion Browns to become the only team since the NFL/AFL merger to lose to the last winless team in successive seasons. NFC West
The National Football Conference - Western Division or NFC West is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). It currently has four members: the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams, the San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The division was formed in 1967 as the National Football League Coastal Division, keeping with the theme of having all of the league's divisions starting with the letter "C." The division was so named because its teams were fairly close to the coasts of the United States, although they were on opposite coasts, making for long travel between division rivals. Julian Roosevelt Pittman (born May 22, 1975) is a former professional American football defensive end in the National Football League. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He played with the New Orleans Saints in 1998. Ron Warner (born September 26, 1975) is a former American football defensive end and linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the New Orleans Saints, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Washington Redskins. He was also a member of both the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The 1997 Tennessee Volunteers football team represented the University of Tennessee during the 1997 NCAA Division I-A football season. Quarterback Peyton Manning had already completed his degree in three years, and had been projected to be the top overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft, but returned to Tennessee for his senior year. The Volunteers opened the season with victories against Texas Tech and UCLA, but for the third time in his career, Manning fell to Florida, 33–20. The Vols won the rest of their regular season games, finishing 10–1, and advanced to the SEC Championship Game against Auburn. Down 20–7, Manning led the Vols to a 30–29 victory. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. Christopher E. Bordano (born December 30, 1974) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football.
