1998 NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament
The 1998 NAIA Division I women's basketball tournament was the tournament held by the NAIA to determine the national champion of women's college basketball among its Division I members in the United States and Canada for the 1997–98 basketball season. In a rematch of the 1997 final, Union (TN) defeated four-time defending champions Southern Nazarene in the championship game, 73–70, to claim the Bulldogs' first NAIA national title. The tournament was played at the Oman Arena in Jackson, Tennessee. Qualification The tournament field remained fixed at thirty-two teams, with the top sixteen teams receiving seeds. The tournament continued to utilize a simple single-elimination format. The Oman Arena (originally Jackson Coliseum) is a 5,600-seat multi-purpose arena, in Jackson, Tennessee, USA. Western Washington Vikings Men's Basketball
The Western Washington Vikings represent Western Washington University in intercollegiate sports in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division II with the exception of the women's rowing team which is a member of the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference. Indiana University South Bend (IU South Bend) is a public university in South Bend, Indiana. It is the third largest and northernmost campus of Indiana University. History Indiana University began offering classes in South Bend in 1922 as an extension of the main campus of Indiana University Bloomington. In the Great Depression, the superintendent of South Bend schools asked that more classes be added for those who could not afford to attend classes at the Bloomington campus. The classes were offered at Central High School in downtown South Bend and within a few years enrollment reached 500. Phillips University was a private university Enid, Oklahoma. It opened in 1906 and closed in 1998. It was affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It included an undergraduate college and a graduate seminary.
