1998 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly Election
Elections to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly were held in November 1998. The Indian National Congress won a majority of seats and Digvijaya Singh was sworn in as the new Chief Minister for the second time. These were the last elections to the legislative assembly before the passage of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2000, which carved out the new state of Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh. From the 320 seats in the undivided legislative assembly, the new Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly was assigned 90 Seats, while Madhya Pradesh was left with the remaining 230 seats. 2003 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election
Legislative Assembly elections were held in Chhattisgarh in December 2003, electing the 90 members of the first Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. 2003 elections were the first election in Chhattisgarh after its formation from Madhya Pradesh. The results of the election were announced in early December. Incumbent Chief Minister Ajit Jogi lost the election, while Bharatiya Janata Party won the elections. Kanshi Ram
Kanshi Ram (15 March 1934 – 9 October 2006), also known as Bahujan Nayak or Manyavar or Saheb, was an Indian politician and social reformer who worked for the upliftment and political mobilisation of the Bahujans, the backward or lower caste people including untouchable groups at the bottom of the caste system in India. Towards this end, Kanshi Ram founded Dalit Shoshit Samaj Sangharsh Samiti (DS-4), the All India Backward (SC, ST, OBC..) and Minorities Communities Employees' Federation (BAMCEF) in 1971 and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in 1984. He ceded leadership of the BSP to his protégé Mayawati who has served four terms as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Sunilam, formerly known as Sunil Mishra (born 27 July 1961), is an Indian socialist politician, writer, and former physicist. As of the mid-1990s, he served as the national general secretary of the Yuva Janata Dal. Politics He took part in founding the Socialist Front in the early 2000s. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. There are numerous reasons why someone may stand for office as an independent.
