Melbourne Sports And Aquatic Centre
Melbourne Sports Centres - MSAC is an international sporting venue located in Albert Park, Victoria, Australia. The centre was opened on 24 July 1997 at a construction cost of A$65 million. The cost was funded by the State Government of Victoria and the City of Port Phillip. The centre has hosted international events including the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 World Aquatics Championships. The centre has several swimming pools and international standard diving facilities. There is a large multi-purpose sports hall used for sports such as badminton, basketball, table tennis and volleyball, and also squash courts and a gym. Cai Yun (born 19 January 1980) is a former professional badminton player representing China. He is the 2012 London Olympic gold medallist and a four-time World Champion in men's doubles. Joanne Quay Swee Ling (born 17 March 1980) is a Malaysian former badminton player. Quay was the gold medalist at the 1998 World Junior Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Chan Chong Ming. She and Chan also won the silver medal in Asian Junior Championships. She was part of the national team that won the women's team silver medal at the 1998 Commonwelath Games. Eny Widiowati (born 12 July 1980) is an Indonesian retired badminton player. Career Widiowati was part of the Indonesia junior team that competed at the 1997 and 1998 Asian Junior Championships, winning a silver and bronze in the girls' team event respectively, also finished as the semifinalists in the girls' doubles event, clinched the bronze medals. She then claimed the girls' doubles bronze at the 1998 World Junior Championships in Melbourne. Widiowati competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the mixed doubles with partner Anggun Nugroho. Vita Marissa (born 4 January 1981) is an Indonesian retired badminton player. Career Marissa competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in mixed doubles with partner Nova Widianto. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Robert Blair and Natalie Munt of Great Britain in the second. In the quarterfinals, Marissa and Widianto lost to Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager of Denmark 15–12, 15–8. In September 2008 Marissa and her new partner Muhammad Rijal won in mixed doubles at the Japan Super Series after beating Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir 14–21, 21–15, 21–19 in the all Indonesian final. Jun Woul-sik (; born 20 July 1980) is a former South Korean badminton player. Jun was educated at the Seongil Girls' High School. She was part of the national junior team that won the girls' team silver medal at the 1998 Asian Junior Championships, and claimed the individual girls' doubles silver partnered with Lee Hyo-jung. She and Lee also captured the girls' doubles bronze at the World Junior Championships in Australia. Lee Hyo-jung (Hangul: 이효정, Hanja: 李孝貞; ; born 13 January 1981) is a South Korean former badminton player. She won the gold medal in badminton mixed doubles at the 2008 Summer Olympics with her partner, Lee Yong-dae. Lee Hyo-jung and Lee Yong-dae were unseeded, and in the finals they beat the top seeds and 2005 and 2007 world champions Lilyana Natsir and Nova Widianto of Indonesia, 21-11, 21-17. Career Although Huang has won the Chinese National mixed doubles title almost all of her many international titles have come in women's doubles with Gao Ling, in a partnership where Huang's strength and consistency in the backcourt have complemented Gao's ability in the forecourt. She is a former defending two-time world champion for women's singles, and former women's singles World No. 1. Career One of China's most successful women's doubles specialists, Zhang has won some thirty international titles, the vast majority of them in partnership with Yang Wei, during the first decade of the 21st century.
