The 1998 FIVB World Grand Prix was the sixth women's volleyball tournament of its kind, played by eight countries from 21 August to 13 September 1998. The final round was staged in Hong Kong. Leila Barros
Leila Gomes de Barros (born September 30, 1971) is a Brazilian politician and a former volleyball player. She often played as opposite hitter and attacker. She was a member of the Brazilian squad who had great success in the late 1990s and early 2000s (decade), winning the 1996 and 1998 editions of the volleyball Grand Prix and being rated the most valuable player (MVP) in each win. Volleyball career Barros started competing in volleyball at the age of fifteen. She switched to beach volleyball in July 2001, but returned to the indoor courts in 2003 to help the Brazil women's national volleyball team to qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Regla Torres Herrera (born February 12, 1975 in Havana) is a Cuban volleyball player who has won three Olympic gold medals with her first being at the young, for volleyball, age of 17. Yumilka Daysi Ruíz Luaces (born 8 May 1978 in Camagüey) is a retired volleyball player from Cuba, who represented her native country in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1996. She twice won a gold medal with the national team in 1996 and 2000; she also claimed the bronze at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Eleonora Lo Bianco (born 22 December 1979) is an Italian volleyball player. Career Born in Borgomanero, in her youth she played in the Omegna volleyball team. In the season 1998/1999 she was recruited to the ''Club Italia'', a special team organized by the Italian volleyball Federation to train young players. Bernardo Rocha de Rezende (born 25 August 1959), known as Bernardo Rezende and nicknamed Bernardinho, is a Brazilian volleyball coach and former player. He is the current coach of the female volleyball team Rio de Janeiro Vôlei Clube.
