The 1998 Cupa României Final was the 60th final of Romania's most prestigious cup competition. The final was played at the Stadionul Naţional in Bucharest on 6 May 1998 and was contested between Divizia A sides Rapid București and Universitatea Craiova. The cup was won by Rapid. 1997–98 Cupa României
The 1997–98 Cupa României was the 60th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Rapid București against FC U Craiova. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. First round proper matches are played on the ground of the lowest ranked team, then from the second round proper the matches are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes into extra time. If the match is still tied, the result is decided by penalty kicks. From the first edition, the teams from Divizia A entered in competition in sixteen finals, rule which remained till today. Mario Bugeanu
is a character (arts), character created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto. He is the title character of the ''Mario (franchise), Mario'' franchise and the mascot of Japanese video game company Nintendo. Mircea Rednic
Mircea Rednic (born 9 April 1962) is a Romanian football coach and former player who played as a defender. Club career Mircea Rednic, nicknamed "Puriul" was born on 9 April 1962 in Hunedoara and until he was 14 years old he played table tennis, handball, volleyball and chess before starting to play football at Corvinul Hunedoara's youth center. Coach Mircea Lucescu gave him his debut for Corvinul's senior squad in the 1979–80 Divizia B season, also giving him his Divizia A debut on 2 August 1980 in a 4–1 victory against ASA Târgu Mureș. In the following seasons Rednic helped the club finish 3rd in the 1981–82 Divizia A, also appearing in four games in the 1982–83 UEFA Cup. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Cristian Dulca
Cristian Alexandru Dulca (born 25 October 1972) is a Romanian professional football coach and former player, who is currently in charge of the Romania women's national team. Playing career As a player, Dulca represented CFR Cluj, Gloria Bistrița, Rapid București, Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, Gaz Metan Mediaș and Universitatea Cluj in his native Romania. He also had two spells abroad in South Korea and Hungary, with Pohang Steelers and Budapest Honvéd, respectively. At international level, Dulca was included by head coach Anghel Iordănescu in the Romania national team squad for the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Penalty Kick (association Football)
A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines. Procedure The ball is placed on the penalty mark, regardless of where in the penalty area the foul occurred. The player taking the kick must be identified to the referee.
