1998 CFL Season
The 1998 CFL season is considered to be the 45th season in modern-day Canadian football, although it is officially the 41st Canadian Football League season. CFL News in 1998 The Canadian Football League signed a five-year television contract with TSN. With the deal, TSN had the right to all CFL television broadcasts. The league also made a sponsorship deal with Adidas, which made them the official footwear, practice wear, and sport glove provider of the CFL. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a professional Canadian football team based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They are currently members of the East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The Tiger-Cats play their home games at Tim Hortons Field. In 1950, the Tigers merged with cross-town upstart Hamilton Wildcats and adopted the name "Tiger-Cats". Since the 1950 merger, the team has won the Grey Cup championship eight times, most recently in 1999. CFL East Division
The East Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League, its counterpart being the West Division. Although the CFL was not founded until 1958, the East Division and its clubs are descended from earlier leagues. The four teams in the division are the Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, and Ottawa Redblacks. Several now-defunct teams have also played in the East Division including two teams from the United States and a large number of teams that have played in Hamilton, Montreal, and Ottawa prior to the current teams from those cities. The Dick Suderman Trophy (french: Trophée Dick Suderman) for the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian (''Le Canadien le plus précieux de la Coupe Grey'') is awarded annually to the Canadian player deemed to have the best performance in the Grey Cup game, the championship of the Canadian Football League. This award is presented before the Grey Cup trophy is presented. The winner does not necessarily have to play for the Grey Cup winning team in order to qualify. The award was introduced at the 1971 Grey Cup, and the first winner was Dick Suderman, a Canadian defensive end. A year later, just six weeks before the playing of the 1972 Grey Cup, Suderman collapsed and died from a brain hemorrhage after playing a regular season game; the trophy was subsequently renamed in his honour. Vince Danielsen (born November 26, 1971) is a former professional Canadian football receiver for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League from 1994 to 2001. He was selected third overall in the bonus round of the 1994 Canadian College Draft. Jeffrey Jason Garcia (born February 24, 1970) is a former American football quarterback. After attending high school and junior college in Gilroy, California, Garcia played college football at San Jose State University. Mark McLoughlin
Mark McLoughlin (born October 26, 1965) is a former placekicker in the Canadian Football League for the Calgary Stampeders from 1988 to 2003 and the BC Lions in 2005. He won three Grey Cups for the Stampeders in 1992, 1998, and 2001, and was the second leading scorer in CFL history, behind only Lui Passaglia, at the time of his retirement. Seven times he scored over 200 points in a season with a career high of 220 in 1995 and tied that mark in 1996. McLoughlin holds eight Western Division Scoring Crowns, is a five-time Western Division All-Star and also won the Northern Division All Star and three-time CFL All-Star.
