1998 Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals season was the franchise's 100th season, 79th season in the National Football League and the 11th in Arizona. The club posted its first winning record since 1984, appeared in the postseason for the first time since 1982, its first postseason appearance in a non-strike season since 1975, and won its first postseason game since 1947 (it was also their first ever playoff win on the road). It was the Cardinals' first playoff appearance in its tenure in Arizona. After shocking the 10–6 Dallas Cowboys in the opening round in which the Cardinals won 20–7, Arizona ended up losing to the 15–1 Minnesota Vikings, 41–21 in the Divisional round. The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Super Bowl XLIII was an American football game between the American Football Conference (AFC) champions Pittsburgh Steelers and the National Football Conference (NFC) champions Arizona Cardinals to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2008 season. The Steelers defeated the Cardinals by the score of 27–23. The game was played on February 1, 2009, at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Anthony Clement
Anthony George Clement (born April 10, 1976) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round of the 1998 NFL Draft. He played college football at Louisiana-Lafayette. Clement has also played for the San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets and New England Patriots. Early years Clement attended Cecilia High School in Cecilia, Louisiana, and was a letterman in football and track & field. Corey Lamonte Chavous (; born January 5, 1976) is a former American football defensive back who played 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Chavous played for three teams, at both safety and cornerback. Chavous was known as one of the most instinctive defensive backs of his era and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2003. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. Andre Wadsworth (born October 19, 1974) is a former football defensive end. He played College football for Florida State University, and earned All-American honors. He was selected in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Early years Wadsworth was born in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. He attended Class A Florida Christian School in Miami-Dade County, Florida, where he starred at tight end for the Florida Christian Patriots high school football team. Wadsworth was named first-team All-Dade County and voted all-conference and second-team all-state as a defensive lineman. He also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
