1997–98 SD Compostela Season
1997–98 was the 36th season in the history of SD Compostela, and their fourth in La Liga. Season summary Compostela parted company with head coach Fernando Vázquez in March 1998, with the club in the relegation playoff places. Gabriel Leis coached the team for the rest of 1997–98 La Liga, the season, but couldn't save them, and they ended the year in 17th place. Francisco de Borja Agirretxu Barreiro (born 11 November 1971), known as Borja Agirretxu in Basque or Borja Aguirrechu in Spanish, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a left back. José Ramón González Pérez (born 20 May 1968), known as José Ramón, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Carreira, Santa Uxía de Ribeira, José Ramón played ten seasons with Deportivo de La Coruña in two separate spells, but featured sparingly when the team competed in La Liga. Ángel M. Lekumberri García (born 21 January 1970), also spelled Ángel Lekunberri, is a Spanish former footballer who played as an midfielder. In a career spanning almost two decades, he played with a variety of clubs in all of Spain's top four divisions, and made 199 appearances in La Liga during spells with Compostela and Osasuna, scoring six goals. Club career Lekumberri was born in Pamplona, the capital of the autonomous community of Navarre, but began his career with Asturian club Langreo. He made his debut in Segunda División B towards the end of the 1987–88 season, becoming a regular member of the team the following year. Christopher Nusa Ohenhen (born 14 October 1970), known as Ohen, is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a striker. He spent the vast majority of his professional career in Spain, with Compostela. Career Born in Benin City, Ohen began his career at Julius Berger FC, then left at the age of 18 for Spain, where he would spend the following decade. Fabiano Soares Pessoa (born 10 June 1966), known simply as Fabiano, is a Brazilian football manager and former player. An attacking midfielder, Fabiano's professional career was mostly associated with Compostela, as both a player and manager. Franck Passi (born 28 March 1966) is a French retired footballer who played as a midfielder. He is the assistant manager of Ligue 1 club Lyon. Coaching career Passi worked in a player recruitment role for one of his old clubs, Olympique Marseille, between 2007 and 2010 before becoming Reserve Team Coach at the club in May 2010. In 2012, he was promoted again, this time as assistant coach to Elie Baup. Javier Bellido Plaza (born 9 March 1966) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a central defender.
