1997–98 Rangers F.C. Season
The 1997–98 season was the 118th season of competitive football by Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 52 competitive matches during the 1997–98 season. They went into the season in pursuit of a record tenth consecutive league title. The early season form of new signing Marco Negri gave the team fresh impetus but when the then manager Walter Smith announced that he would leave the club at the end of the season the side's form dipped. Rangers finished the league on 72 points, two behind champions Celtic. The club ended the season trophyless for the first time in twelve seasons as they lost the Scottish Cup final to Hearts 2–1 and were knocked out League Cup in the quarter finals by Dundee United. Ståle Stensaas
Ståle Stensaas (born 7 July 1971) is a Norwegian football coach and former player. He spent the majority of his career at Rosenborg, and he is currently coaching Rosenborg's junior team. Career Stensaas played for the Norwegian Tippeliga side Rosenborg from 1992 to 1997. One of the highlights of his career is his super goal against Blackburn Rovers in the UEFA Champions League in 1995. He was sold to Scottish club Rangers, where he scored goals against Kilmarnock in the league and Falkirk in the League Cup. He struggled to hold a place in the Rangers team and he returned to Rosenborg in 2000. Stensaas was sold to Lyn in the winter 2007, on a two-year contract. FC Flora, commonly known as Flora Tallinn, or simply as Flora, is a professional football club based in Tallinn, Estonia, that competes in the Meistriliiga, the top flight of Estonian football. Jonatan Johansson (footballer)
Jonatan Lillebror Johansson (born 16 August 1975) is a Finnish football coach and former player. He is the manager of TPS. His main position was forward, playing most notably for Rangers and Charlton Athletic. Johansson was also a regular in the Finland national team, earning a total of 106 caps. Antti Mikko Niemi (born 31 May 1972) is a Finnish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He also worked as a goalkeeping coach at Brighton & Hove Albion during the 2014–15 season. Niemi spent time as a player in the Scottish Premier League (with Rangers, Heart of Midlothian) and the Premier League (with Southampton and Fulham), and in 2008 announced his retirement due to injury. Gennaro Ivan Gattuso (; born 9 January 1978) is an Italian professional football coach and former player, who currently serves as manager of La Liga club Valencia. Jonas Magnus Thern (born 20 March 1967) is a Swedish football manager who manages Allsvenskan club IFK Värnamo. He is also a former professional player who played as a midfielder. Starting off his career with Malmö FF in 1985, he went on to represent FC Zürich, Benfica, Napoli, Roma, and Rangers before retiring in 1999. NAC Breda (), often simply known as NAC, is a Dutch professional football club, based in Breda, Netherlands. Antony Vidmar (born 4 July 1970) is an Australian soccer coach and former player, who serves as an assistant coach with the Australia national team.
