Championnat National
The Championnat de France National ( en, French National Championship), commonly referred to as simply National or Division 3, serves as the third division of the French football league system behind Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. Contested by 18 clubs, the Championnat National operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Ligue 2 and the Championnat National 2, the fourth division of French football. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 34 games each, totalling 306 games in the season. Most games are played on Fridays and Saturdays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. Play is regularly suspended the last weekend before Christmas for two weeks before returning in the second week of January. The National was founded in 1993 by the French Football Federation and served as a ''base league'' for clubs on the brink of becoming professional or falling to the amateur levels. Olympique Noisy-le-Sec Banlieue 93 is a French association football team founded in 1943. They are based in Noisy-le-Sec, France and are currently playing in Regional 1, Paris Île-de-France, the sixth tier in the French football league system, following relegation from Championnat National 3 in 2019. Bourges 18 was a football club based in Bourges, France. In the summer of 2008, FC Bourges, which formerly spent eleven seasons in the Division 2, merged with Bourges-Asnières 18 to create Bourges 18. The club's colours were red and blue. In 2021, a merger with Bourges Foot created the new club Bourges Foot 18. Olympique Football Club de Charleville-Mézières is a French football team from the city of Charleville-Mézières, Ardennes, which plays in Division d'honneur (6th division in the French football league system). History The team was founded in 1904 as ''Association Sportive des anciens élèves de Belair la Villette''. The club was renamed ''Club Ardennais'' in 1910, ''Football Club de Charleville'' in 1927 and then ''Football Club Olympique Charleville'' (FCO Charleville) in 1932, in a merger with ''Olympique de Charleville''. The team became professional in 1935, and played in Division 2 till 1939. In 1936, the club obtained its major achievement by qualifying to the Coupe de France final, but lost against RC Paris. The team had a very defensive strategy for the era, thanks to captain Helenio Herrera.
