Blatant Comics
Blatant Comics is an independent American comic book publisher founded in 1997 by Chris Crosby with Randy Faucheux III and John Waupsh III (who later left to pursue other exploits). Blatant is known for publishing parody comic books such as ''Sloth Park'', ''XXXena: Warrior Pornstar'', and ''Dead Sonja: She-Zombie with a Sword'', and humor comics like ''+EV'' and ''Impeach Bush!''. On May 5, 2007, as part of Free Comic Book Day, Blatant ventured into less humorous subject matter with a straight horror comic called '' Last Blood''. ''Mad'' (stylized as ''MAD'') is an American humor magazine first published in 1952. It was founded by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines, launched as a comic book series before it became a magazine. It was widely imitated and influential, affecting satirical media, as well as the cultural landscape of the 20th century, with editor Al Feldstein increasing readership to more than two million during its 1973–74 circulation peak. The magazine, which was the last surviving title from the EC Comics line, publishes satire on all aspects of life and popular culture, politics, entertainment, and public figures. Middelkerke () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders, on the North Sea, west of Ostend. The municipality comprises the villages of Leffinge, Lombardsijde, Mannekensvere, Middelkerke proper, Schore, Sint-Pieters-Kapelle, Slijpe, Westende and Wilskerke. On January 1, 2006, Middelkerke had a total population of 17,841. The total area is 75.65 km2 which gives a population density of 236 inhabitants per km2. Born in Rome, Mastantuono worked in the animation field until 1989, and then started to work for the Italian magazine ''L'Eternauta''. ''Zits'' is a comic strip written by cartoonist Jerry Scott and illustrated by Jim Borgman about the life of Jeremy Duncan, a 17-year-old high school junior (he was 15 when the comic started). The comic debuted in July 1997 in over 200 newspapers and has since become popular worldwide and received multiple awards. As of 2010, it continues to be syndicated by King Features and is now included in "more than 1,700 newspapers worldwide in 45 countries and is translated into 15 different languages." Jim Borgman
James Mark Borgman (born February 24, 1954) is an American cartoonist. He is known for his political cartoons and his nationally syndicated comic strip '' Zits''. He was the editorial cartoonist at ''The Cincinnati Enquirer'' from 1976 to 2008. Biography Borgman was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to James and Marian Borgman, where he began his career in journalism as a student at Elder High School. He then attended Ohio's Kenyon College where he started as an English major, then switched to being an art major. He graduated in 1976 with Phi Beta Kappa honors. Borgman met his first wife Lynn Goodwin during his senior year of college at a class called Jesus and the Gospels. They had two children named Dylan and Chelsea. Lynn died in 1999 from a blood clot following surgery to ease chronic neck and shoulder pain. Jerry Scott
Jerry Scott (born May 2, 1955) is an American cartoonist and writer. He is known for co-creating the comic strips ''Baby Blues'' and '' Zits''. He is one of only four cartoonists to have multiple strips appearing in over 1,000 newspapers worldwide. Career Scott started cartooning professionally in the mid-1970s by submitting gag cartoons to magazines, and he sold one from his first batch to the ''Saturday Evening Post''. In 1983, Scott was selected to succeed Mark Lasky (in the wake of Lasky's sudden death) on Ernie Bushmiller's '' Nancy''. Scott modernized the strip to his own specifications, and eventually handed it over to Guy Gilchrist in the 1990s. Scott became friends with Rick Kirkman and they created ''Baby Blues'', a comic based on American family life with young children. Kirkman does the illustrations, while Scott does the writing. ''Judy'' was a British pre-teen and teen girl's magazine, primarily in comic book form. ''Judy'' was extant from 1960 to 1991. From 1991 to 1997 it was combined with another title in ''Mandy and Judy'' magazine. ''Judy'' was published by DC Thomson.
