Kølig Kaj, born Thomas Lægaard Sørensen (born 15 August 1971, Pindstrup, Denmark) is a Danish rapper who gained national fame in 1997 by winning Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with his song "'' Stemmen i mit liv''".''Ikke under jorden. Eurovision Song Contest 1997
The Eurovision Song Contest 1997 was the 42nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, held on 3 May 1997 at the Point Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ) and presented by Irish television and radio presenter Carrie Crowley and Irish singer Ronan Keating, the contest was held in Ireland following the country's victory at the with the song "The Voice" by Eimear Quinn. Denmark was represented by rapper Kølig Kaj, with the song "Stemmen i mit liv", at the 1997 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 3 May in Dublin. "Stemmen i mit liv" was chosen as the Danish entry at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on 1 March. Before Eurovision Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1997 The final was held at the DR TV studios in Copenhagen on 1 March 1997 and hosted by Hans Otto Bisgård. Ten songs competed in the contest and the winner was selected solely by a public televote, which led to the victory of "Stemmen i mit liv" performed by Kølig Kaj. The song won by a relatively narrow margin over "Utopia" performed Jette Torp, and was regarded as something of a risky choice as rap had only been tried once before at Eurovision (by the United Kingdom's Love City Groove in 1995), without a great deal of success. Strisser på Samsø (A Cop on Samsø) is a Danish television series consisting of 12 episodes, written and directed by Eddie Thomas Petersen. Produced by Per Holst Filmproduktion, it was first broadcast on TV2 in 1997-1998. The story tells how Christian Torp, a police officer who has lost his wife in an unsuccessful robbery, brings his daughter Sille to the Danish island of Samsø looking for peace and quiet. They have difficulty in integrating into a society full of problems where everyone knows everything about everybody, but they find a friend in Ulla, a secretary. TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Danish government-owned broadcast and subscription television station in Denmark based in Odense, Funen. History Since 1949, Danmarks Radio had been the sole provider of television in Denmark. Wanting to end the monopoly, the Danish Parliament voted on 30 May 1986, to create TV2, as a second choice for public service television. Upon its establishment, it had first begun its experimental test transmissions, and then, two years later, it had therefore commenced its official broadcast on 1 October 1988, with its first program being ''Danish Symphony'' which is broadcast at 17:00, followed by the news at 19:30. Subscription and overseas availability From 1 November 2009, all Danish television broadcasting became digital with DVB-T and MPEG4 standard. ''Teletubbies'' is a British children's television series created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport for the BBC.
