1997 Tercera División Play-offs
The 1997 Tercera División play-offs to Segunda División B from Tercera División (Promotion play-offs) were the final playoffs for the promotion from 1996–97 Tercera División to 1998–99 Segunda División B. The first four teams in each group (excluding reserve teams) took part in the play-off. Format The 68 participating teams were divided into 5 series each made up of 4 groups in the category, with the exception of '' Series E '', which was only formed by '' Group XII ''. Each series was divided into 4 groups formed by a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and a 4th classified from each group, which played a double-round playoff. Each victory was equivalent to 3 points, the tie to 1 point and the defeat to 0 points. The champion of each group obtained the promotion to Second Division B. CF Palencia
Club de Fútbol Palencia was a Spanish football team based in Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. Founded in 1975 and dissolved in 2012, it held home games at ''Estadio La Nueva Balastera'', with an 8,100-seat capacity. History Palencia has had many football clubs, the beginnings being in June 1929 with ''Club Deportivo Palencia''. In 1943 it first reached Tercera División after a win against Orensana, as the club was then known as ''Fábrica Nacional de Palencia''. Motril Club de Fútbol was a Spanish football team based in Motril, Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Founded in 1984 and dissolved in 2012, it held home matches at ''Estadio Escribano Castilla'', with a capacity of 4,400 seats. History Motril first reached the third division in 1997, remaining six consecutive seasons in the category. In 2001–02 it inclusively finished the regular season in first position (in group IV), but lost in the promotion playoffs against Getafe CF, 0–1 on aggregate. From 2003–12, Motril competed again in the fourth level, appearing in the promotion playoffs on five occasions, always without success. Club Deportivo Alcoyano, S.A.D. is a Spanish football team based in Alcoy, in the autonomous community of Valencia. Founded in 1928 it plays in Primera División RFEF – Group 2, holding home games in ''Estadio El Collao'', with a 4,850-seat capacity. The team is also known by its name in Valencian, ''Alcoià''. A simile exists in Spanish which includes the name of this football club, "Tener más moral que el Alcoyano" ("To have more morale than Alcoyano").
