1997 Royal Bank Cup
The 1997 Royal Bank Cup was the 27th Junior "A" 1997 ice hockey national championship for the Canadian Junior A Hockey League. The Royal Bank Cup was competed for by the winners of the Doyle Cup, the Anavet Cup, the Dudley Hewitt Cup, the Fred Page Cup and a host city. The tournament was hosted by the Summerside Western Capitals and Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Summerside is a Canadian city in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is the second largest city in the province and the primary service centre for the western part of the island. The Surrey Eagles are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Mainland Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They play their home games at South Surrey Arena. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) is a Junior 'A' ice hockey league operating in the Canadian province of Manitoba and one of nine member leagues of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). Kanata Valley Lasers
The Kanata Lasers were a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Ottawa, Ontario, in Canada. They are a part of the Central Canada Hockey League. The Lasers played their home games at The Tom Flood Arena located inside the Kanata Rec Complex in Kanata, Ontario. Team history The Kanata Valley Lasers began play in the Central Junior Hockey League in 1987-88 when an expansion franchise was granted to Kanata, Ontario, which was then a separate suburb of Ottawa. During their first 15 years as the Valley Lasers, the team never missed the playoffs, had the same head coach, Archie Mulligan, won 2 Art Bogart Cup championships in 1992 and 1997 won the Fred Page Cup in 1997. In May 2002, the Kanata Sports Club sold the Kanata Valley Lasers to Dynasty Flooring Inc. The new ownership refurbished the team, renamed them the Kanata Stallions, and moved from the Jack Charron Arena to the Kanata Recreation Centre. The British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) is a Junior A ice hockey league from British Columbia under Hockey Canada and BC Hockey. Founded in Vernon in 1961, the BCHL now includes 18 teams. From 1993 to 2021, the league was a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), an association of Junior A leagues across Canada that would play for the National Junior A Championship. Alberta Junior Hockey League
The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is an Alberta-based Junior A ice hockey league that belongs to the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). It was formed as a five-team league in 1964. There are currently 16 teams in the league. The regular season league champions receive the Dave Duchak Trophy. The playoff champions receive the Inter Pipeline Cup (previously known as the Carling O'Keefe trophy and Gas Drive Cup). Jakub Ficenec (born February 11, 1977) is a Czech-German professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for Düsseldorfer EG of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Ficenec made his professional debut during the 1993–94 season, appearing in two games in the Czech Extraliga. In 1995–96 he appeared in three games with HC Slavia Praha. Beginning in 1996, Ficenec played five season in North America. He played two seasons of junior ice hockey with the South Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia Hockey League. Scott Carlos Gomez (born December 23, 1979) is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player. He was the assistant coach for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). Gomez had previously played in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators. Abbott Cup
The Abbott Memorial Cup, commonly referred to as the Abbott Cup, was awarded annually from 1919 through 1999 to the Junior "A" ice hockey Champion for Western Canada. The Cup was named after Captain E.L. (Hick) Abbott who was a noted hockey player in Western Canada. He captained the Regina Victorias when it won the (pre-Memorial Cup) Junior Championship of Canada in 1913 and 1914. Captain Abbott died in active service in the First World War and the trophy was presented in his memory in 1919 by the Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association. The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) is a Canadian Junior ice hockey league and member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and Northern Ontario Hockey Association.
