1997 Memorial Cup
The 1997 Memorial Cup occurred May 10–18 at the Robert Guertin Centre in Hull, Quebec. It was the 79th annual Memorial Cup competition and determined the major junior ice hockey champion of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Participating teams were the host Hull Olympiques, who were also the champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as well as the QMJHL runner-up Chicoutimi Saguenéens, and the winners of the Ontario Hockey League and Western Hockey League, which were the Oshawa Generals and the Lethbridge Hurricanes respectively. The round-robin portion of the tournament also featured one of the greatest games in Memorial Cup history, in which Lethbridge trailed Hull 6-1 to start the third period of their game and stormed back to win 7-6 in overtime. Robert Guertin Centre
The Robert Guertin Centre (formerly Robert Guertin Arena and Hull Arena) is a multi-purpose arena in the Hull sector of Gatineau, Quebec, with a capacity of 4,000 capacity (3,196 seated). It was built in 1957. The original tenant hockey team was the Ottawa-Hull Canadiens from 1957 to 1961, until the team relocated to become the Montreal Junior Canadiens. The Ottawa-Hull Canadiens hosted the 1958 Memorial Cup between the Hull Arena and the Ottawa Auditorium across the river. The Canadiens defeated the Regina Pats four games to two to win the Memorial Cup. The Hull Arena hosted various teams in the Ottawa-Hull District Junior Hockey League during the 1960s, and briefly hosted the Ottawa 67's in 1967 and 1968, while the Ottawa Civic Centre was under construction. Peter Worrell
Peter J. Worrell (born August 18, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Worrell played seven seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Florida Panthers and the Colorado Avalanche. During that time he was considered one of the most feared enforcers in the game, leading the major junior leagues in penalty minutes in 1996–97, as well as the NHL in 2001–02. Jonathan Delisle
Joseph Jonathan Delisle (June 30, 1977 – March 16, 2006) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger. Early life Delisle was born in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec. As a youth, he played in the 1991 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Northern Selects minor ice hockey team. Playing career Delisle was drafted in the fourth round, 86th overall, of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He played just one game in the National Hockey League with the Canadiens during the 1998–99 NHL season, going scoreless against the Ottawa Senators in 4:32 of ice time. Martin Johnston (12 November 1947 – 21 June 1990) was an Australian poet and novelist. Martin Johnston was born in Sydney on 12 November 1947, son of the writers George Johnston and Charmian Clift. His early childhood was spent in London and Sydney. In 1954 the family moved to Greece. They returned to England in 1960 and Australia in 1964. He was educated at North Sydney Boys High School and Sydney University. In the mid-to-late 1970s he lived and travelled with Australian writer, Nadia Wheatley. Colin White (ice Hockey, Born 1977)
Colin White (born December 12, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He previously played with the New Jersey Devils and the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. Early life White was born and raised in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Playing career White played Midget hockey for the Weeks Major Midget AAA in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, before being drafted 49th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. In 1997, White won the Memorial Cup with the Hull Olympiques. During the 2000–2001 season, White put up 20 points, helping the Devils to the Stanley Cup finals.
