1997 MTV Video Music Awards
The 1997 MTV Video Music Awards aired live on September 4, 1997, honoring the best music videos from June 17, 1996, to June 16, 1997. The show was hosted by Chris Rock at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. American singer Beck took home the most Moonmen of the night, winning a total of five awards. British acid jazz band Jamiroquai closely followed, though, taking home four awards including the coveted Video of the Year prize. The only other multiple winner that night was British dance outfit The Prodigy, which took home both the American and European Viewer's Choice awards – making them the first act in VMA history to win two Viewer's Choice awards in the same year. As for nominations, Jamiroquai dominated the field with a total of ten nominations for their video for "Virtual Insanity." Radio City Music Hall
Radio City Music Hall is an entertainment venue and Theater (structure), theater at 1260 Sixth Avenue (Manhattan), Avenue of the Americas, within Rockefeller Center, in the Midtown Manhattan neighborhood of New York City. Nicknamed "The Showplace of the Nation", it is the headquarters for the Rockettes. Radio City Music Hall was designed by Edward Durell Stone and Donald Deskey in the Art Deco style. Radio City Music Hall was built on a plot of land that was originally intended for a Metropolitan Opera House, although plans for the opera house were canceled in 1929. It opened on December 27, 1932, as part of the construction of Rockefeller Center. The Perfect Drug
"The Perfect Drug" is a song by Nine Inch Nails written for the David Lynch film '' Lost Highway''. It was released in 1997 on the ''Lost Highway'' soundtrack as well as a single from the score. Remixes of the song were released as an EP, ''"The Perfect Drug" Versions''. Though ''"The Perfect Drug" Versions'' acts as a single for the titular song, the original version does not appear on the EP. The track has also been included on international singles " We're in This Together, Part 3" and " Into the Void" without the ending truncated; the only audio release of it in North America being on the ''Lost Highway'' soundtrack. A music video for it was directed by Mark Romanek, included with '' Closure'', a VHS compilation and '' The Work of Director Mark Romanek''. Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994. Foo Fighters was initially formed as a one-man project by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. Following the success of the eponymous debut album, Grohl (lead vocals, guitar) recruited a band consisting of Nate Mendel (bass guitar), William Goldsmith (drums), and Pat Smear (guitar). After a succession of lineup changes, including the departures of Goldsmith and Smear, the band formed its core lineup in 1999 consisting of Grohl, Mendel, Chris Shiflett (guitar), and Taylor Hawkins (drums). Chris Connelly (born 1957) is an American sports and entertainment reporter who currently works for ESPN as a contributor to its '' E:60'' newsmagazine. He was also the interim editor-in-chief of Grantland.com, replacing Bill Simmons, before ESPN shuttered the site in October 2015.
