1997 FIVB World Grand Prix
The 1997 FIVB World Grand Prix was the fifth women's volleyball tournament of its kind. It was held over four weeks in eight cities throughout Asia, cumulating with the final round in Kobe, Japan, from 29 to 31 August 1997. Yevgeniya Viktorovna Estes (russian: Евге́ния Ви́кторовна Э́стес, born 17 July 1975 in Sverdlovsk), née Artamonova (Артамонова), is a Russian volleyball player who was a member of the national team and one of only two volleyball players (along with Sergey Tetyukhin) that competed consecutively in six Olympic Games and took the silver medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Elizaveta Tichtchenko
Yelizaveta Tishchenko (born 7 February 1975 in Kiev, last name also spelled Tichtchenko) is a retired female volleyball player from Russia, who made her debut for the Soviet national team in 1991. She competed in three consecutive Olympic Games (1996, 2000 and 2004), and twice won a silver medal. She represented her country more than 470 times from 1991 through 2004, playing as Middle Blocker in the starting 6 of the National Team and leading the Sbornaya as its Captain in 2003 & 2004. Liza won the European Championships (4 times), the World Grand Prix (3 times), and several medals at World Championships and World Grand Champions Cups. Nikolay Vasilyevich Karpol (russian: Николай Васильевич Карполь; 1 May 1938) is a Soviet and Russian women's volleyball coach. Known as ''The Howling Bear'', Karpol was a regular at the Olympic Games, with his teams usually earning a last call on the Olympic podium, winning gold medals in 1980 and 1988 and taking the silver medals in 1992, 2000 and 2004 for a total of five Olympic medals. Natalia Hanikoğlu ( Belyaeva, born 23 June 1975 in Moscow, Russia) is a Turkish-Russian volleyball player. She is 190 cm tall and plays as a middle blocker and outside hitter. She plays for Galatasaray Medical Park and wears the number 7 jersey. Natalia Safronova
Natalya Safronova (born 6 February 1979, in Krasnoyarsk), is a volleyball player from Russia. During her time playing with the Russian club Zarechie Odintsovo, she won the "Best Attacker" award at the 2006–07 CEV Cup. On 3 December 2009 she collapsed during training after suffering a stroke. She was in coma for 18 days and only regained her speech a year after the incident took place. She continues to recover from the stroke with her volleyball career likely to be over.
