The 1997 DFB-Ligapokal was the inaugural DFB-Ligapokal, a pre-season competition in Germany. The Ligapokal was an extended Supercup, including the reigning League champions, Cup winners, plus the next four highest placed teams in the previous season's Bundesliga. It was won by Bayern Munich, the 1996–97 Bundesliga champions, who beat 1996–97 DFB-Pokal winners VfB Stuttgart Verein für Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart 1893 e. Karlsruher SC
Karlsruher SC is a German association football club, based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg that currently plays in the 2. Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. Domestically, the club was crowned German champion in 1909, and won the DFB-Pokal in 1955 and 1956. In Europe, KSC won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1996, which remains the club's last major honor. Formed as Karlsruher Fussball Club Phönix in 1894, the modern form of the club was formed as the result of several mergers in 1952, and its early success granted KSC a spot in the inaugural Bundesliga season in 1963. Alexander Nyarko (born 15 October 1973) is a Ghanaian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Nyarko started his career in Ghana, and in 1995 he joined FC Basel from Sportul Studenţesc. Nyarko joined FC Basel for their 1995–96 season under head coach Claude Andrey. He played his debut for his new club in the home game in the St. Jakob Stadium the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup match on 8 July 1995 as Basel were beaten 3–2 by Karlsruher SC. Radosław Gilewicz
Radosław Gilewicz (born 8 May 1971) is a Polish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder or as a striker. Club career Born in Chełm Śląski, Gilewicz started his career in 1991 playing for GKS Tychy. In 1992, he transferred to Ruch Chorzów. From 1993 to 1995 Gilewicz played for FC St. Gallen. He later moved to VfB Stuttgart where he stayed for two years before once again moving to Karlsruher SC. David Regis (born December 2, 1968) is a retired professional soccer player and coach who played as a defender. He was most recently the assistant coach of US Mondorf-les-Bains. Aue, Saxony
Aue () is a small town in Germany at the outlet of the river Schwarzwasser into the river Zwickauer Mulde in the Ore Mountains, and has roughly 16,000 inhabitants. It was merged into the new town Aue-Bad Schlema in January 2019. Ulf Kirsten (born 4 December 1965) is a German former professional footballer who played as a striker.
