Robert Weale
Robert Arthur Weale (born in Hereford on 3 April 1963), is a Welsh international lawn and indoor bowls player. Weale is originally from Presteigne and was educated at John Beddoes School, but now lives in Hereford. In 2022, he was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of fame. Bowls career Weale made his international debut in 1982. He was the youngest competitor in the 1984 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Aberdeen, where he competed in the triples event. World Titles Weale's career-best performance came in January 2000, when he won the 2000 World Indoor Bowls Championship singles title at Potters. Just a few months later, Weale won the men's fours title at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, in April 2000. Kevin Arthur Hugh Campbell (born 24 December 1950) is a former South African international lawn bowler. Bowls career World Championships Campbell came to prominence in 1976 when he won the triples, fours and team gold medals at the 1976 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Johannesburg. In the Triples with Nando Gatti and Kelvin Lightfoot they won 14 of their 15 matches. In the fours with Gatti, Lightfoot and Bill Moseley they repeated the feat of winning 14 of the 15 matches played. The South African team completed a clean sweep of all events at the 1976 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. The lawn bowlers from South Africa were denied further opportunities to win medals due to the Sporting boycott of South Africa during the apartheid era. Andrew Curtain (born 1967) is a former New Zealand international lawn bowls player. Bowls career Curtain won two medals at the 1996 World Outdoor Bowls Championship; a silver in the triples and a bronze in the fours. Peter Belliss
Peter James Belliss (born 12 November 1951) is a former lawn bowls player for New Zealand. Background Belliss was born in Wanganui in 1951, attending (and playing rugby football at) Wanganui Boys' College. He started playing in the 1970s in the Aramaho (Wanganui) club; Joseph Romanos called him ''The young Turk of lawn bowls''. He had been a railways fitter, and in 1982 was the first New Zealand lawn bowler to turn professional. Willie Wood (bowler)
William Walker Wood MBE (born 26 April 1938 in Haddington, East Lothian) is a former Scottish professional bowls player, who has mainly competed in the outdoor or lawn form of the game. He is regarded as one of the leading bowlers of his generation and his list of achievements include appearing at eight Commonwealth Games and winning two gold medals and eight World Bowls Championship gold medals. Early life Wood took up bowls at the age of 12, perhaps unsurprisingly as his father, grandfather and mother all played the sport. With little else to occupy his time, Wood says he elected to bowl in his home village of Gifford, rather than brave the bus journey to the swimming baths at nearby North Berwick. Wood undertook his national service with the British Army, joining aged 18, serving in Germany with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. George Adrain
George Adrain (born 12 April 1953) is a former Scottish international lawn bowler. Personal life George is from a famous bowling family, his father ( Willie Adrain) and uncle also called (Willie) were both Scottish internationals. He started bowling aged 14 in early 1968 after being introduced to the sport by his father. Bowls career George won the Scottish Triples in 1974 and British Triples in 1975. His biggest achievement came in the 1984 World Outdoor Championships in Aberdeen but bizarrely it was representing the United States. Jim Candelet fell ill during the competition leaving Skippy Arculli without a partner so Adrain the Scottish reserve took his place and the pair went on to win the Gold Medal.
