The 1996 Swedish Golf Tour was the eleventh season of the Swedish Golf Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women held in Sweden. Maria Hjorth, in her rookie year as a professional, won three tournaments and the Order of Merit. Maria Hjorth
Maria Anna Hjorth (born 15 October 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. Early years Hjorth was born in Falun. As the youngest of three daughters to Kjell and Monica Hjorth, she first gripped a golf club at three years of age. Six years old, she traveled with her family, to compete in the unofficial Swedish Championship for children, the Colgate Cup, for girls up to 10 years of age. After the round, her older sister helped her to count the score. Nordic skiing was a main interest during winter time. At ten years of age, Hjorth also began playing curling and later became the youngest ever individual winner of the Swedish Championship in curling. Marlene Hedblom (born 13 November 1972 in Gävle) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. Early years Despite coming from a golfing family, she did not start playing until the age of 12 at Gävle Golf Club in Sweden. Helen Alfredsson
Helen Christine Alfredsson (born 9 April 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played primarily on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is also a life member of the Ladies European Tour. She won the LPGA major Nabisco Dinah Shore and twice finished second in the U.S. Women's Open. Federica Dassù
Federica Dassù (born 17 February 1957) is an Italian professional golfer. Career Dassù was born in Milan. She turned professional in 1983 and joined the Women Professional Golfers' European Tour (now the Ladies European Tour). She won her last Ladies European Tour title, the 2003 Open de España Femenino at an age of 44, the oldest LET winner at the time, and announced her retirement at the end of the season. The Scandinavian TPC hosted by Annika was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour held in Sweden. The tournament was played annually 1996–2008 and starting 2005 with Annika Sörenstam as the hostess. It was known as the HP Open 2003–2004 and the Compaq Open 1996–2002. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. Alison Nicholas, (born 6 March 1962) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Nicholas was born in Gibraltar. She was educated at the School of St Mary and St Anne (now Abbots Bromley School for Girls). She enjoyed a very successful amateur career in England. She started playing golf at the age of 17 and won the 1982 and 1983 Northern Girls Amateur Open. Nicholas was the 1983 British Amateur Stroke Play champion. Joanne Morley
Joanne Lois Morley (born 30 December 1966) is an English professional golfer. Morley was born in Sale. She was leading amateur at the Women's British Open in 1989 and 1993 and English Women's Strokeplay Champion in 1991 and 1992. She finished runner-up in the 1992 British Ladies Amateur. She played on the Great Britain and Ireland team in the 1992 Curtis Cup (winners) and the 1992 Espirito Santo Trophy (2nd place). Sara Eklund (born 31 July 1974) is a retired Swedish professional golfer. She won the 1995 Rörstrand Ladies Open as an amateur and played on the Ladies European Tour six seasons, 1997–2002. Maria Bertilsköld (born 13 June 1970) is a Swedish professional golfer and National Team coach. She won the 1990 European Lady Junior's Team Championship and played on the Ladies European Tour for five years between 1992 and 1996.
