1996 Scottish League Cup Final
The 1996 Scottish League Cup Final was a football match played at Celtic Park, Glasgow, on 24 November 1996. It was the final of the 51st Scottish League Cup competition. The final was contested by Rangers and Heart of Midlothian, who had also been the participants in the 1996 Scottish Cup Final in May of that year. The 1996–97 Scottish League Cup was the 51st staging of Scotland's second most prestigious football knockout competition, also known for sponsorship reasons as the Coca-Cola Cup. Andy Goram
Andrew Lewis Goram (13 April 1964 – 2 July 2022) was a Scottish footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Born in Bury, Lancashire, England, he started his career with Oldham Athletic and Hibernian, but he is best remembered for playing for Rangers during the 1990s, when he earned the nickname "The Goalie". In a 2001 poll of Rangers fans, Goram was voted Rangers' greatest-ever goalkeeper. Goram appeared in 43 international matches for Scotland and was selected for their squads at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, UEFA Euro 1992 and UEFA Euro 1996. After his time with Rangers, Goram played for many clubs, most notably at Motherwell and a brief loan spell at Manchester United. Gilles Rousset
Gilles Rousset (born 22 August 1963) is a French former professional footballer, who played as a goalkeeper. Rousset started his career with Sochaux in 1982, where he spent eight seasons, playing more than 100 times for the Montbéliard side before he was transferred to Olympique Lyonnais in 1990. He quickly established himself as the first choice goalkeeper at the Stade de Gerland, playing 98 matches over the next 3 seasons. During this period, Rousset was capped twice by France. He was selected in the squad for the 1992 Euro Championships although, as second choice goalkeeper, he did not play in Sweden. Walter Smith
Walter Ferguson Smith (24 February 1948 – 26 October 2021) was a Scottish association football player, manager and director, primarily associated with his two spells as manager of Glasgow club Rangers. A defender, Smith's playing career consisted of two spells with Dundee United, split by a short time at Dumbarton. A pelvic injury caused his retirement from playing and Smith moved into coaching at Dundee United, working for manager Jim McLean. Smith also took charge of the Scotland under-18 and under-21 teams, and assisted Scotland manager Alex Ferguson at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, after it had been announced that he would be moving to Rangers as assistant to Graeme Souness. Peter Jacobus van Vossen (; born 21 April 1968) is a Dutch former professional football player and manager. Club career Van Vossen was born in Zierikzee. As a footballer, he played for Beveren, Anderlecht, Ajax, Istanbulspor, Rangers, Feyenoord, De Graafschap and Vitesse. During his time with Ajax he won the 1994–95 European Cup. Theo Snelders
Theodorus Antonius Gerardus Snelders (born 7 December 1963) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Snelders was born in Westervoort, Gelderland. He started his career with FC Twente but is mostly remembered in Scotland, especially for his spell at Aberdeen following his move for £300,000 in summer 1988. A successful replacement for Jim Leighton, he had a very good first season at Pittodrie, winning the Scottish PFA Players' Player of the Year in 1989. David Robertson (footballer Born 1968)
David Alexander Robertson BEM (born 17 October 1968) is a former Scottish football player and coach, who is currently the manager of Scottish League One club Peterhead. Robertson played as a left back for Aberdeen, Rangers, Leeds United, Montrose and represented Scotland. Brian Laudrup (, born 22 February 1969) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a winger, forward or as a midfielder, and was regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation. He currently works as a football commentator, pundit and analyst on Kanal 5 and 6'eren. Jörg Albertz
Jörg Albertz (; born 29 January 1971) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Between 1996 and 1998, he played three international games for the Germany national team. Career As both a youth player and apprentice, Albertz played for PSV Mönchengladbach and Borussia Mönchengladbach. His first professional contract was signed in 1990 for Fortuna Düsseldorf. Charles Miller (born 18 March 1976) is a Scottish retired association football, footballer. He started his career at Rangers F.C., Rangers, and was voted the SPFA Young Player of the Year in 1995 during his time with the club. He is the assistant coach of Sarpsborg 08 FF, Sarpsborg 08 in the Norwegian Eliteserien. Gordan Petrić
Gordan Petrić (; born 30 July 1969) is a Serbian football manager and former player who is the manager of Serbian SuperLiga club Partizan. Club career Petrić made his senior debut with OFK Beograd in the 1985–86 season, as the club suffered relegation from the top flight of Yugoslav football.
