1996 Nabisco Dinah Shore
The 1996 Nabisco Dinah Shore was a women's professional golf tournament, held March 28–31 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. This was the 25th edition of the Nabisco Dinah Shore, and the fourteenth as a major championship. Patty Sheehan won her only Nabisco Dinah Shore, one stroke ahead of runners-up Meg Mallon, Kelly Robbins, and Annika Sörenstam. She sank a putt for par on the final hole to avoid a four-way playoff and win the last of her six major titles. 1996 LPGA Tour
The 1996 LPGA Tour was the 47th season since the LPGA Tour officially began in 1950. The season ran from January 11 to November 24. The season consisted of 34 official money events. Laura Davies, Dottie Pepper and Karrie Webb won the most tournaments, four each. Webb led the money list with earnings of $1,002,000, the first player to win over $1 million in a season. The season saw the first winner's share over $200,000, at the U.S. Women's Open. There were four first-time winners in 1996: Mayumi Hirase, Emilee Klein, Caroline Pierce, and Joan Pitcock. Brandie Burton
Brandie Burton (born January 8, 1972) is an American professional golfer. In October 2019 her induction into the Southern California Golf Association Hall of Fame was announced, noting that she competed in five Solheim Cups, recorded 88 top 10 finishes and became the youngest female golfer to surpass $1 million in career earnings. Golf In California
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Chevron Championship
The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983. Founded in 1972 by singer and actress Dinah Shore and Colgate-Palmolive chairman David Foster, it was played at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California from its inception through 2022. In 2023, the championship will be played in The Woodlands, Texas for the first time at The Club at Carlton Woods - Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Val Skinner
Val Skinner (born October 16, 1960) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Skinner was born in Hamilton, Montana. She was the 1974 Nebraska Junior Girls champion and the 1976 Nebraska High School State champion and won both these titles in 1978. She was also the 1980 Nebraska Match Play champion. She played her collegiate golf at Oklahoma State University where she was 1980 and 1982 Big Eight champion and the 1982 Big Eight Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year. Deb Richard (born June 13, 1963) is an American former professional golfer who was a member of the LPGA Tour for twenty years during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Amateur career Richard was born in Abbeville, Louisiana in 1963, and raised in Manhattan, Kansas. She first found success as an amateur golfer by winning the Kansas state high school golf championship three consecutive years for Manhattan High School (1979–1981). She followed by winning the Kansas Women's Amateur the next two years (1982, 1983). Liselotte Neumann
Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team. After practicing different sports and supported by her father, her mother Ingegerd and her brother Mats, Neumann began playing golf at the local 9-hole course at Finspång Golf Club. Rosie Jones (born November 13, 1959) is an American professional golfer, with 13 LPGA Tour career victories and nearly $8.4 million in tournament earnings. Amateur career Jones was born in Santa Ana, California. In her amateur career, she was a three time New Mexico Junior Champion (1974–76) and won the New Mexico State Championship in 1979. Jones attended Ohio State University where in 1981 she was an AIAW All-American. Professional career Jones qualified for the LPGA Tour by tying for seventh at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in July 1982. Tracy Hanson (born October 28, 1971) is a retired American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour between 1995 and 2008. She was the 1991 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links champion and won the 1994 Indonesia Ladies Open. Kris Tschetter
Kris Tschetter (born December 30, 1964) is an American professional golfer, who played on the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Tschetter was born in Detroit, Michigan. As an amateur, she won the 1983 American Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions and was a four-time winner of the South Dakota State Women's Amateur Championship (1983–86). In 1984, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open and the following year was a quarterfinalist at the Trans-National.
