1996 Holiday Bowl
The 1996 Holiday Bowl was a college football bowl game played December 30, 1996, in San Diego, California. It was part of the 1996 NCAA Division I-A football season. It featured the 1996 Colorado Buffaloes football team, Colorado Buffaloes, and the 1996 Washington Huskies football team, Washington Huskies. Game summary Washington scored first following a 2-yard touchdown run from running back Corey Dillon, and the Huskies opened up a 7–0 lead. Corey Dillon later scored on a 12-yard touchdown run, increasing Washington's lead to 14–0. 45 seconds later, Colorado quarterback Koy Detmer threw a 75-yard 'bullet' to wide receiver Rae Carruth to close Colorado to within 14–7. In the second quarter, Nick Ziegler returned a Washington interception 31 yards for a touchdown, tying the game at 14. Big 12 Conference
The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition. Its 10 members, in the states of Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia, include two private Christian universities and eight public universities. Additionally, the Big 12 has 12 affiliate members — eight for the sport of wrestling, one for women's equestrianism, one for women's gymnastics and two for women's rowing.
