1996 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 1996 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 48th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary Honda, Honda's Michael Doohan, Mick Doohan continued his domination of the 500 class with 8 victories. His Repsol Honda teammate, Àlex Crivillé beat him to the line twice in Austria and the Czech Republic. Luca Cadalora, now with the Erv Kanemoto, Kanemoto Honda team took two wins for the fourth consecutive year. Suzuki, Suzuki's hopes were dashed when Daryl Beattie suffered head injuries in a pre-season crash. He returned only to crash in Spain then two races later in France which effectively ended his career. Loris Capirossi won his first 500 Grand Prix when Crivillé collided with his teammate, Doohan on the last lap of the Australian round. The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM; en, International Motorcycling Federation) is the global governing/sanctioning body of motorcycle racing. Daryl Beattie
Daryl Beattie (born 26 September 1970 in Charleville, Queensland, Australia) is a former Grand Prix solo motorcycle road racer. Motorsport career Beattie posted several good results at the beginning of the 1992 500cc Grand Prix season then teamed up with Wayne Gardner to win the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race in Japan. His performance earned him a place on the Honda factory team alongside fellow Australian Mick Doohan for the 1993 season. He won his first Grand Prix that year at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring and finished the season in a promising third place behind Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey. After the season, he was inexplicably released by the Honda team. Beattie had a lackluster season in 1994 on a Team Roberts Marlboro Yamaha. Sentul International Circuit
Sentul International Circuit is a 50,000-capacity permanent motor racing circuit located at Sentul City, Babakan Madang, Bogor Regency, West Java, Indonesia, near the toll gate of Jakarta towards Bogor city and areas at the foot of Jonggol Mountains Its pit facilities have easy access to the Jagorawi Toll Road. The current circuit is a truncated version of the original design. Indonesian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Indonesian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Championship. There have been three Grand Prix events held; in 1996 and 1997, both at the Sentul International Circuit, Bogor, West Java, and in 2022 at the Mandalika International Street Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. As a response to the 1997 Asian financial crisis, this race was dropped from the 1998 calendar. Shah Alam Circuit (حلبة شاه عالم) or Batu Tiga Speedway Circuit was a racing circuit in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. The circuit layout was designed by Dutchman John Hugenholtz. Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Malaysian motorcycle Grand Prix is a round of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing World Championship. The event is due to take place at the Sepang International Circuit until at least 2024. History The first Malaysian Grand Prix was held in 1991 at the Shah Alam Circuit as the final race of the season. Because of the long trip and high cost, many riders chose to not participate in this event. The 500cc race was won by John Kocinski. The event was notorious due to the tropical temperatures and a high degree of humidity, something which plagued the riders for four consecutive years – from 1992 to 1995 respectively. Olivier Jacque (born 29 August 1973 in Villerupt, France) is a French former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Career He was second in the 250cc European Championship in 1994, before moving on to the 250cc World Championship. He achieved a top ten finish in the points standings every year he competed. , or was a Japanese professional motorcycle road racer who was previously a 500 cc/MotoGP rider. He died in a road traffic crash in October 2007. Career Abe was born to , a paved flat track rider, in Tokyo. When he was eleven, Abe began racing minibikes and spent his earlier career competing in motocross. He turned to road racing when he was fifteen and also competed in the United States. In 1992, Abe was the runner up in the 250 cc category for the domestic National A championship. Honda NSR500V
The Honda NSR500V is a race motorcycle from the Honda NSR series. It was designed and manufactured by HRC and debuted in 1996 for the Grand Prix motorcycle racing's 500 cc class. The bike was conceived by Honda to be a viable machine for privateer teams to enter the class. Characteristics The V-twin water-cooled two-stroke used the same crankcase reed-valve induction as the Honda NSR500 V4.
