1996 Alaska Milkmen Season
The 1996 Alaska Milkmen season was the 11th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Notable achievements The Alaska Milkmen won all three conferences in the season to become the fourth team in league history to capture the Grandslam, joining the 1976 and 1983 Crispa Redmanizers and 1989 San Miguel Beermen. Summary During the off-season, the Milkmen lost only two players from their roster, Alejandro Araneta and Dondon Ampalayo, who both retired from active playing. The only new player in their lineup is Kevin Ramas, who was acquired from Pepsi when Alaska gave up their first round pick in the rookie draft. Tim Cone
Earl Timothy Cone (born December 14, 1957) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He is the most accomplished coach in PBA history with twenty-four (24) titles, including two (2) Grand Slams, four (4) Coach of the Year awards, and the winningest coach of the league tallying more than one thousand (1000) games won. Johnny Abarrientos
Johnny Abarrientos (born July 17, 1970) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association. He was also a many-time member of the Philippine National team, and was the 1996 PBA Most Valuable Player, becoming the shortest player to win the league's highest individual award. He is known by many as The Flying A when he started playing for the Alaska Milkmen in 1993. He is currently an assistant coach for the Magnolia Hotshots and the Head Coach for the FEU Tamaraws. Derrick Lamont Hamilton (born May 20, 1966) is a former professional basketball player. He played college basketball at the University of Southern Mississippi in the late 1980s. Hamilton was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in the third round of the 1988 NBA draft but was not signed to a contract. He would later play for several teams in Europe. 1995 Pepsi Mega Season
The 1995 Pepsi Mega Bottlers season was the 6th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Summary The Bottlers won their first two games of the season, upsetting Alaska Milkmen, 99-93 in overtime on February 21, followed by a 94-80 win over San Miguel on February 28. The Mega Bottlers had four wins and two losses when they lost their last four games and were eliminated from the All-Filipino Cup semifinal race along with San Miguel Beermen and Ginebra. Bob McCann, who played for three NBA teams spread over three years, was Pepsi's import in the Commissioners Cup. He scored 44 points in leading the Bottlers to a 91-87 win over Formula Shell in the opening game on June 9, spoiling the debut of the much-hype Shell reinforcement Jarvis Matthews. Kevin Ramas
Fermin Alberto Ramas, better known as Kevin Ramas (born October 30, 1967) is a former PBA player for more than twelve years. He has played for Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs, San Miguel Beermen, Pepsi Mega and Alaska Milkmen (now known as the Alaska Aces). Ramas played for the Mapua Cardinals in the NCAA where he was part of the senior's championship conquest in 1990. He also played for Crispa 400 in the Philippine Basketball League. In 1992, Ramas entered the PBA draft and was picked fourth overall in the first round by Purefoods, behind three members of the national team, Vergel Meneses, Stevenson Solomon and Jolly Escobar. Januario "Aric" del Rosario (January 1, 1940 – March 25, 2020) was a Filipino basketball player and coach who served as head coach of the UST Growling Tigers in the UAAP, Pampanga Dragons in the Metropolitan Basketball Association, the 2003 RP Men's Team in the Southeast Asian Games, and of the UPHSD Altas from 2012 to 2015; until he retired and was made a consultant of the team in the NCAA. Joel Banal (born February 6, 1958) is a retired Filipino professional basketball player, and former head coach in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is the former commissioner of the now-defunct Pilipinas Commercial Basketball League (PCBL). Banal is the only head coach to win championships in the NCAA, UAAP, PBL, and the PBA. Isabelo "Jojo" Lastimosa Jr. (born March 10, 1964) is a Filipino former professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association for the Purefoods Hotdogs, the Alaska Aces and the Pop Cola Panthers from 1988 to 2002. Rene "Bong" Hawkins Jr. (born November 6, 1967) is a Filipino retired professional basketball player of the Philippine Basketball Association.
