The Wombats are an English indie rock band formed in Liverpool in 2003, consisting of Matthew Murphy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, backing vocals, keyboards), and Dan Haggis (drums, backing vocals, keyboards). They are independent and have distribution deals with AWAL and Warner Music Australia. They have sold over 1 million albums worldwide. Released in the UK on 25 April 2011, the album was supported by three singles prior to its release: "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)", " Jump into the Fog", "Anti-D". A further three singles were released following release: " Techno Fan", "Our Perfect Disease", and "1996". The Wombats produced the album alongside Rich Costey, Eric Valentine, Butch Walker, and Jacknife Lee. Upon its release, the album received favourable reviews by critics. Matthew Edward Murphy (born 23 July 1984) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of The Wombats, which he co-founded in 2003. He began a solo career under the name Love Fame Tragedy in 2018.
