1995–96 Washington Bullets Season
The 1995–96 NBA season was the Bullets' 35th season in the National Basketball Association. In the 1995 NBA draft, the Bullets selected Rasheed Wallace from the University of North Carolina with the fourth overall pick. During the off-season, the team acquired All-Star guard Mark Price from the Cleveland Cavaliers, acquired Robert Pack from the Denver Nuggets, and signed free agents Tim Legler, Chris Whitney and former Bullets guard Ledell Eackles. However, injuries would be an issue as Chris Webber was limited to only just 15 games following the lingering effect to his injured left shoulder, averaging 23.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Jim Lynam
James Francis Lynam (born September 15, 1941) is an American former college and professional basketball coach. He coached at the college level for Fairfield University from 1968 to 1970, American University from 1973 to 1978, and St. Joseph's University from 1978 to 1981. In the National Basketball Association (NBA), Lynam coached the San Diego / Los Angeles Clippers from 1983 to 1985, the Philadelphia 76ers from 1987 to 1992, and the Washington Bullets from 1995 to 1997. Lynam compiled a 158–118 record at the college level, and 328–392 in the NBA. He was also Philadelphia's general manager from 1992 to 1994. Playing career After graduating from West Catholic High School, he went to Saint Joseph's University. With the Hawks, he was a three-year starter. Ledell Eackles
Ledell Eackles (born November 24, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Washington Bullets in the second round (36th overall pick) of the 1988 NBA draft. Eackles played in seven NBA seasons for the Bullets, Miami Heat and Washington Wizards, averaging 10.8 ppg in his career. His best season came during 1989–90 when he appeared in 78 games for the Bullets averaging 13.5 points. Eackles played college basketball at the University of New Orleans and prepped at Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge. 1996–97 Golden State Warriors Season
The 1996–97 NBA season was the Warriors' 51st season in the National Basketball Association, and 35th in the San Francisco Bay Area. Due to extensive renovations at the Oakland Coliseum Arena, the Warriors played their home games at the San Jose Arena this season. In the off-season, the team signed free agent All-Star guard Mark Price, then traded Rony Seikaly to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Felton Spencer, Donald Royal and Jon Koncak at the start of the season. However, Koncak was out for the entire season with a knee injury, and never played for the Warriors. The team struggled with a 1–5 start to the season, then later on held a 17–29 record at the All-Star break, and lost seven straight games in March, as B. J. The 1996–97 NBA season was the Nets' 30th season in the National Basketball Association, and 21st season in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In the 1996 NBA draft, the Nets selected Kerry Kittles out of Villanova with the eighth pick. In the off-season, the team signed free agents Robert Pack, Tony Massenburg, Xavier McDaniel, who played in Greece during the previous season, and David Benoit, who missed the entire season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Mitchell Butler
Mitchell Leon Butler (born December 15, 1970) is an American sports agent and former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1993 to 2004. The 6' 5" (1.96 m) shooting guard signed NBA Draft, undrafted with the Washington Bullets in 1993 after a collegiate career at University of California, Los Angeles, UCLA in which he played in more career games than any other Bruin and swiped the seventh-most steals in UCLA history. After three seasons in Washington, Butler was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers along with Rasheed Wallace in exchange for Rod Strickland and Harvey Grant. James Michael McIlvaine (born July 30, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player who spent seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Washington Bullets, Seattle SuperSonics, and New Jersey Nets. Hartley Brent Price (born December 9, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player who played for four teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the brother of 4-time NBA All-Star, Mark Price. Early years Price was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma. His father, Denny served as head coach of the Shawnee High School Wolves. Calbert Nathaniel Cheaney (born July 17, 1971) is an American basketball coach and former player who serves as assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He starred as a player for the Indiana Hoosiers from 1989–93 under coach Bob Knight. Cheaney ended his career as a three-time All-American and remains the Big Ten's all-time leading scorer with 2,613 career points. The 1996 NBA All-Star Game was the 46th edition of the NBA All-Star Game, an exhibition basketball game played on February 11, 1996. The event was held at the Alamodome in San Antonio and was a part of the 50th season of the NBA. The game was televised nationally by NBC in the United States and by CTV in Canada. There were 36,037 people in attendance. Michael Jordan put on a show for the fans in his first game back from retirement and ended up receiving the game's most valuable player award.
