Season summary Terry Westley was promoted as Pleat's successor from youth team coach, but was sacked after just six months in charge. Lennie Lawrence was brought in as a replacement, but he was unable to stop Luton from finishing bottom of Division One. Luton () is a town and unitary authority with borough status, in Bedfordshire, England. At the 2011 census, the Luton built-up area subdivision had a population of 211,228 and its built-up area, including the adjacent towns of Dunstable and Houghton Regis, had a population of 258,018. It is the most populous town in the county, from the County Towns of Hertford, from Bedford and from London. The town is situated on the River Lea, about north-north-west of London. The town's foundation dates to the sixth century as a Saxon outpost on the River Lea, from which Luton derives its name. Kelvin Davis (footballer)
Kelvin Geoffrey Davis (born 29 September 1976) is an English former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He began his career with Luton Town as a youth player in 1991 and remained there until 1999. Davis later played for Wimbledon, Ipswich Town and Sunderland before moving to Southampton in 2006. Davis was team captain of Southampton from 2009 to 2012, after which he became club captain. From July 2016 to December 2017, Davis had been working as part of the support staff at Southampton. On 29 December 2017, Davis became Senior First Team coach following the resignation of Eric Black the previous week until parting ways with Southampton in 2022. Mitchell Thomas
Mitchell Thomas (born 2 October 1964) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. While at Tottenham Hotspur he started in the 1987 FA Cup Final. Playing career David Pleat brought Thomas into the Luton Town side from Limbury boys club in 1982. In 1985/86 Thomas played three games for England U21s in the European U21 championships. He played in a qualifier and one leg each of the quarter and semi finals, with two of his Luton Town colleagues Tim Breacker and Mike Newell. He was sold to Tottenham in July 1986 for a fee of £275,000, following the same movement of manager David Pleat. After his spell at Tottenham during which he played in the 1987 FA Cup Final, Thomas moved to West Ham Utd in August 1991 for £500,000 joining former Luton teammate Tim Breacker. Aaron Skelton (born 22 November 1974 in Welwyn Garden City) is a former professional footballer who played at right-back, right-wing, center-midfield and center-back during his time at Luton Town FC, Luton Town and Colchester United F.C., Colchester. His More recent achievement, on 15 July 2022, Aaron joined a team of 4 military veterans on the rowing boat Ellida to cross the English Channel from Cherbourg to Poole. This 66 nautical mile trip ended on 16 July after 38.5 hours at sea, with strong winds and tides resulting in a 109-mile row and a Successful crossing. Darren Patterson
Darren James Patterson (born 15 October 1969) is a Northern Irish football manager and former professional footballer. As a player he was a defender, notably playing in the Premier League for Crystal Palace and in the Scottish Premier League for Dundee United. Most of his appearances however came in the Football League with spells at Wigan Athletic and Luton Town. He also played professionally for Preston North End, York City and Oxford United. Marvin Anthony Johnson (born 29 October 1968) is an English former professional footballer who spent his entire career at Luton Town, playing as a defender. Playing career Johnson signed professional terms with Luton Town on 12 November 1986 as an 18-year-old centre back who could also play as either a full back or midfielder. Johnson made his league debut for Luton on 5 March 1988, in a 2–0 loss against Wimbledon. His career spanned 16 years across the top four league divisions of England, experiencing three relegations and a promotion. Richard George Harvey (born 1 April 1969 in Letchworth) is an English former footballer. Playing career A product of the club's youth system, Harvey made his League debut on 1 November 1986 in a 1–0 home win over Queens Park Rangers. He eventually became a regular in the Luton side, but due to injuries he missed the best part of three years. Apart from a short loan spell at Blackpool in 1992, he stayed with Luton until 1998, when he left to join Aylesbury United. David Michael Greene (born 26 October 1973) is an Irish former footballer who played as a defender. Career Born in Luton, England to a Galway mother and a Dublin father, Greene played for the Republic of Ireland U21 side 14 times. He began his career at hometown club Luton Town, where he spent five years, making just 19 league appearances. Then manager David Pleat's move from Kenilworth Road to take over at Sheffield Wednesday brought Greene into immediate conflict with the new Luton manager, Terry Westley. Greene was loaned out twice during his time with Luton, firstly to Colchester United and then to Brentford. Stephen Mark Davis (born 30 October 1968 ) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. He had three spells with Burnley, and has subsequently coached for them. He was the first team coach for EFL Championship side Bolton Wanderers but was sacked along with Owen Coyle on 9 October. Playing career Davis was born in Hexham, but started his career as a trainee with Southampton in August 1986, turning professional in July 1987. Benjamin Chenery (born 28 January 1977) is an English footballer who played in The Football League for Cambridge United and Luton Town. After a spell at Kettering Town he joined Canvey Island and played for them for five years.
