1995–96 Armenian Cup
The 1995–96 Armenian Cup was the fifth edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 1995–96, the tournament had 24 participants, none of which were reserve teams. Results First round Kapan-81, Vanadzor, Arabkir, Nairit, Karabakh Yerevan, Ararat Yerevan, Shirak and FC Yerevan received byes to the second round. The first legs were played on 31 August 1995. The second legs were played on 14 September 1995. Second round The first legs were played on 1 March 1996. The second legs were played on 6 and 8 March 1996. Quarter-finals The first legs were played on 1 and 2 April 1996. The second legs were played on 5 and 13 April 1996. Semi-finals The first legs were played on 3 and 4 May 1996. Araks Ararat FC
Araks Ararat FC ( hy, Արաքս Արարատ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ), is a defunct Armenian football club from the town of Ararat, Ararat Province. Club history The club was founded in 1960 as FC Ararat to represent the town of Ararat. With the independence of Armenia, the Ararat Cement Factory took over FC Ararat in 1993 and the club was renamed FC Tsement Ararat. They played in the Armenian Premier League and won two titles, the first in 1998 as Tsement and the 2nd in 2000 as Araks Ararat. The following year, Tsement yielded the championship to FC Shirak by two points and ended up on the third spot behind FC Ararat Yerevan. However, after many successful years, the club president ''Abraham Babayan'' was unable to finance the club. Eventually, the rights were sold in late 2000 to a new sponsor based in Yerevan and Araks Ararat FC was dissolved. Hrazdan Stadium
Hrazdan Stadium ( hy, Հրազդան մարզադաշտ) is a multi-use, all-seater stadium in Yerevan, Armenia, opened in 1970. Being the largest sports venue in Armenia, Hrazdan was mostly used for football matches. It was the home stadium of the Armenia national football team until 1999 and has hosted the occasional international game since then. The stadium is able to host 54,208 spectators after the most recent reconstruction in 2008, which converted the stadium into an all-seater one. Before the reconstruction, Hrazdan was able to hold up to 70,000 spectators. It was among the top four stadiums of the Soviet Union by its capacity. The stadium hosted the Armenian Cup finals on many occasions, as well as the opening ceremony of the Pan-Armenian Games in 2003. Arsen Avetisyan ( hy, Արսեն Ավետիսյան, born 8 October 1973) is a retired Armenian footballer who played as a forward. Club career Avetisyan has played for numerous clubs during his career. In 2006, he returned to Armenia to play for his former club Pyunik and became the main forward for the team. In 2008, he transferred to Kapan to play for Gandzasar after his contract with Pyunik had expired. Hamlet Vladimiri Mkhitaryan ( hy, Համլետ Վլադիմիրի Մխիթարյան;, born 24 November 1973 in Yerevan, Armenia) is a retired Armenian football player. He also played for the Armenia national team. Club career In 2005, Mkhitaryan was on the verge of signing with Scottish club Hearts, but the contract has not been signed between the two parties due to work permit complications. In October 2006, he joined the Tehran club Pas in the Iran Pro League. In 2007, after Pas was officially dissolved, he signed with another Tehran club, Rah Ahan. After playing for 2 seasons, he joined Armenian Premier League club Banants Yerevan and returned home. He later went back to Iran, where he signed a contract with Damash Gilan. For one season he played on his third Tehran club, Parse Tehran. Mkhitaryan currently plays for Gahar Zagros. Football Club Shirak ( hy, Շիրակ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ), commonly known as Shirak, is an Armenian professional sports club based in Gyumri. Shirak is known for its professional football team which is one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia, having been created in 1958. The club is the only team that participated in all seasons of the Armenian Premier League since its creation in 1992 until 2021.
