1995 NAIA World Series
The 1995 NAIA World Series was the 39th annual NAIA World Series, tournament hosted by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to determine the national champion of college baseball, baseball among its member colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The tournament was played for at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa. This was the first tournament played in Sioux City since 1961 NAIA World Series, 1961. Emerging out of the consolation bracket, Bellevue Bruins, Bellevue (57–13) defeated Cumberland Phoenix, Cumberland (TN) (49–19) in a single-game championship series, 8–5, to win the Bruins' first NAIA World Series. Bellevue short-stop Nic DeLuca was named tournament MVP. Double Elimination
A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost ''two'' games or matches. It stands in contrast to a single-elimination tournament, in which only ''one'' defeat results in elimination. One method of arranging a double-elimination tournament is to break the competitors into two sets of brackets, the ''winners' bracket'' and ''losers' bracket'' (''W'' and ''L'' brackets for short; also referred to as ''championship bracket'' and ''elimination bracket'', ''upper bracket'' and ''lower bracket'', or ''main bracket'' and ''repechage'') after the first round. The first-round winners proceed into the W bracket and the losers proceed into the L bracket. Saint Mary's Rattlers Baseball
The St. Mary's Rattlers are the athletic teams that represent St. Mary's University, Texas, located in San Antonio, Texas, United States in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The Rattlers compete as members of the Lone Star Conference for all 11 varsity sports. St. Mary's was a member of the Heartland Conference from 1999 to 2019. 1995 NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament
The 1995 NCAA Division II baseball tournament was the postseason NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, tournament hosted by the NCAA to determine the national champion of college baseball, baseball among its Division II (NCAA), Division II members at the end of the 1995 NCAA Division II baseball season. The final, eight-team double-elimination tournament, double elimination tournament, also known as the College World Series, was again played at Paterson Field in Montgomery, Alabama. Florida Southern Moccasins baseball, Florida Southern defeated Georgia College Bobcats, Georgia College, 15–0, in the championship game, claiming the Moccasins' eighth Division II national title. 1995 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament
The 1995 NCAA Division I baseball tournament was played at the end of the 1995 NCAA Division I baseball season to determine the national champion of college baseball. The tournament concluded with eight teams competing in the College World Series, a double-elimination tournament in its forty ninth year. Eight regional competitions were held to determine the participants in the final event. Each region was composed of six teams, resulting in 48 teams participating in the tournament at the conclusion of their regular season, and in some cases, after a conference tournament. The forty-ninth tournament's champion was Cal State Fullerton, coached by Augie Garrido. The Most Outstanding Player was Mark Kotsay of Cal State Fullerton. Extra Innings
Extra innings is the extension of a baseball or softball game in order to break a tie. Ordinarily, a baseball game consists of nine regulation innings (in softball and high school baseball games there are typically seven innings; in Little League Baseball, six), each of which is divided into halves: the visiting team bats first, after which the home team takes its turn at bat. However, if the score remains tied at the end of the regulation number of complete innings, the rules provide that "play shall continue until (1) the visiting team has scored more total runs than the home team at the end of a completed inning; or (2) the home team scores the winning run in an uncompleted inning."
