1995 African Youth Championship
The African Youth Championship 1995 was a soccer tournament held in Nigeria. It also served as qualification for the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. Qualification Preliminary round Benin, Botswana, Cape Verde, Congo, Liberia, Mauritania and Swaziland withdrew. As a result, Senegal, Lesotho, Guinea-Bissau, Togo, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Madagascar advanced to the next round. First round Kenya, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zaire and Zimbabwe withdrew. As a result, Cameroon, Mauritius, Morocco, Burundi, Zambia and Ethiopia advanced to the next round. 1993 African Youth Championship
The 1993 African Youth Championship was a football tournament hosted on the island of Mauritius, off the east coast of Africa. The Championship was won by Ghana, who defeated Cameroon in the final, with both teams thus qualifying for the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship. The 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship, known as the 1995 FIFA/Coca-Cola World Youth Championship for sponsorship purposes, was the 10th edition of the FIFA World Youth Championship. It was held in Qatar from 13 to 28 April 1995. The tournament took place in three venues within the city of Doha. The tournament was originally going to be held in Nigeria. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Under the away goals rule, if the total goals scored by each team are equal, the team that has scored more goals "Road (sports), away from home" wins. This is sometimes expressed by saying that away goals "count double" in the event of a tie, though in practice the team with more away goals is simply recorded as the victor, rather than having additional or 'double' goals added to their total. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
