1994–95 UEFA Champions League Group Stage
The group stage of the 1994–95 UEFA Champions League began on 14 September 1994 and ended on 7 December 1994. Eight teams qualified automatically for the group stage, while eight more qualified via a preliminary round. The 16 teams were divided into four groups of four, and the teams in each group played against each other on a home-and-away basis, meaning that each team played a total of six group matches. For each win, teams were awarded two points (the last time this would be used), with one point awarded for each draw. At the end of the group stage, the two teams in each group with the most points advanced to the quarter-finals. 1994–95 UEFA Champions League
The 1994–95 UEFA Champions League was the 40th edition of UEFA's premier European club football tournament, and the third since its rebranding as the UEFA Champions League. The tournament was won by Ajax of the Netherlands with a late goal in the final against defending champions Milan of Italy. Ajax won the competition without losing a game, either in the group or the knock-out stage in winning the title for the first time since 1973. Compared to the previous edition of the European Cup, radical changes were made to the format of the tournament, due to a recently expired contract that bound UEFA to the EBU for the transmission of the final. Jan Stefan Rehn (born 22 September 1966) is a Swedish football manager and former professional player who played as a midfielder. As a player he represented Djurgårdens IF, Everton, IFK Göteborg, and Lausanne Sports, winning a combined six Swedish Championships with the two Swedish clubs. He won 45 caps for the Sweden national team and represented his country at UEFA Euro 1992 and the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He also represented the Sweden Olympic team at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Stefan Bengt Pettersson (born 22 March 1963) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a striker. He won the UEFA Cup with both IFK Göteborg and Ajax, and won 31 caps for the Sweden national team. He represented his country at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Club career Pettersson was born and raised in Västerås, and started his football career with the local club IFK Västerås. He began his Allsvenskan career with IFK Norrköping, before leaving for IFK Göteborg during the 1984 season.
