1994–95 Michigan Wolverines Men's Basketball Team
The 1994–95 Michigan Wolverines men's basketball team represented the University of Michigan in intercollegiate college basketball during the 1994–95 season. The team played its home games in the Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. Under the direction of head coach Steve Fisher, the team finished tied for third in the Big Ten Conference. The team earned an invitation to the 1995 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament as a number nine seed where it was eliminated in the first round. Steve Fisher (American Basketball Coach)
Stephen Louis Fisher (born March 24, 1945) is an American former basketball coach. Fisher served as the head coach for the Michigan Wolverines, with whom he won the national championship in 1989, and was an assistant at Michigan, Western Michigan University, and the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association. From 1999 to 2017, Fisher was head coach for the San Diego State Aztecs. Fisher attended Illinois State University, where he helped lead the Redbirds to the Final Four of the 1967 NCAA College Division basketball tournament. The Coaches Poll is a weekly ranking of the top 25 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football, Division I college basketball, and Division I college baseball teams. The football version of the poll has been known officially as the Amway Coaches Poll since 2014. The football rankings are compiled by the Amway Board of Coaches which is made up of 62 head coaches at Division I FBS institutions. University Of Dayton Arena
University of Dayton Arena (commonly known as UD Arena) is a 13,409-seat multi-purpose arena located in Dayton, Ohio. The arena opened in 1969. It is home to the University of Dayton Flyers basketball teams. From 2001 to 2010, the facility hosted the annual "play-in" game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament (officially the "opening round" game) which featured the teams rated 64th and 65th in the tournament field. Beginning in 2011, when the tournament expanded to four opening-round games, the arena continued to host all "first four" games. The 1994–95 Western Kentucky Hilltoppers men's basketball team represented Western Kentucky University during the 1994–95 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hilltoppers were led by Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year Matt Kilcullen and SBC Player of the Year Chris Robinson. The team won the Conference Championship and the Sun Belt Basketball Tournament, earning a bid to the 1995 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament for the third straight year. Steal (basketball)
In basketball, a steal occurs when a defensive player legally causes a turnover by their positive, aggressive action(s). This can be done by deflecting and controlling, or by catching the opponent's pass or dribble of an offensive player. The defender must not touch the offensive player's hands or otherwise a foul is called. Steals are credited to the defensive player who first causes the turnover, even if they do not end up with possession of the live ball. To earn a steal, the defensive player must be the initiator of the action causing the turnover, not just the benefactor. Whenever a steal is recorded by a defensive player, an offensive player must be credited as committing a turnover. Loy Vaught
Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player who spent ten seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers. Vaught played at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, and helped lead the University of Michigan Wolverines to the 1989 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship. Vaught was drafted in 1990 by the Los Angeles Clippers. For a short period in the mid-1990s, Vaught was one of the most consistent forwards in the league, averaging 16.2 points and approximately 10 rebounds per game while missing only four games between 1994 and 1997. Field goal percentage in basketball is the ratio of field goals made to field goals attempted. Its abbreviation is FG%. Although three-point field goal percentage is often calculated separately, three-point field goals are included in the general field goal percentage. Instead of using scales of 0 to 100%, the scale .000 to 1.000 is commonly used. A higher field goal percentage denotes higher efficiency. Maurice De Shawn Taylor (born October 30, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player. He played power forward and center positions. Originally from Detroit, Taylor played college basketball at Michigan and was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the 14th overall pick in the 1997 NBA draft.
