The Fussball Club Basel 1893 1994–95 season was their 102nd season since the club's foundation. Peter Epting was the club's chairman for the third period. FC Basel played their home games in the St. Jakob Stadium. Following their promotion in the previous season this was their first season back in the highest tier of Swiss football. Overview Pre-season Claude Andrey was the Basel trainer for the second consecutive season. After gaining promotion during the last season, the club's priority aim was to remain in the top flight of Swiss football. Andrey tried to keep the time together after the team's promotion and only a relatively low number of players left the squad. Axel Kruse's loan period had ended and he returned to VfB Stuttgart and Sergei Derkach returned to Dynamo Moscow. Reto Baumgartner retired from active football and turned to professional beach soccer and played for the Swiss national team. Fussball Club Basel 1893, widely known as FC Basel, FCB, or just Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel, in the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Formed in 1893, the club has been Swiss national champions 20 times, Swiss Cup winners 13 times, and Swiss League Cup winners once. Basel have competed in European competitions every season since 1999–2000. They have qualified for the Group stages of the Champions League more times than any other Swiss club – a total of seven times – and are the only Swiss club to have ever qualified to the Group stages directly. Micha Rahmen
Micha Rahmen (born 1 February 1971), son to Bruno Rahmen, is a retired Swiss footballer, who played either as defender or midfielder. Football career Born in Basel Rahmen played his youth football with local club FC Concordia Basel and advanced to their first team in 1989. He signed his first professional contract with Grasshopper Club for the 1990–91 Nationalliga A season. Rahmen won the Nationalliga A championship that season, but the club did not prolong Rahmens contract and so he moved on. Rahmen joined FC Basel's first team during their 1991–92 season under head-coach Ernst-August Künnecke. After playing in seven test games Rahmen played his domestic league debut for his new club in the home game in the St. Jakob Stadium on 24 July 1991 as Basel played a 1–1 draw with Yverdon-Sports.
