1994–95 Australian Baseball League Season
The 1994–95 Australian Baseball League (1989–1999), Australian Baseball League Championship was won by the Waverley Reds, who finished the season with a 17-game winning streak. The Reds faced the 4th place Sydney Blues in the semi-final and won 2–0, while the 2nd placed Perth Heat defeated the East Coast Cougars 2–1 to win a spot in the Championship Series. The Reds won the first two games of the championship series 5-1 and 4–2, with the third game not being required. Australian Baseball League (1989–1999)
The Australian Baseball League (ABL) was a baseball league, established in 1987 and disbanded in 1999. Formation Before the formation of the Australian Baseball League, the Claxton Shield, established in , was Australia's premier baseball tournament. The idea of an Australian baseball league was first conceived in , possibly prompted by the success of Australia's National Basketball League Australia, National Basketball League. The final Claxton Shield competition was held in 1988 by the Auburn Baseball Club in New South Wales at its home ground of Oriole Park (Sydney), Oriole Park. Auburn funded all visiting teams' fares and accommodation with the expectation of recouping from gate takings and increased revenue at its social club. Australian Baseball League (1989–1999) Seasons
The Australian Baseball League (ABL) is a professional baseball league in Australia. The league is governed by the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF). It uses the same name as a now-defunct competition held during the 1990s, and though it shares some history of the original league with the Claxton Shield awarded to winners of both competitions, it is considered to be a separate competition. Because the ABL's season takes place from November to February, the ABL is one of baseball's recognised winter leagues (although it is summer in Australia when the season takes place), where minor-league prospects in North America are often assigned as an English-speaking alternative to the primary Spanish-speaking Latin America-based winter leagues. Kimera Bartee
Kimera Anotchi Bartee (July 21, 1972 – December 20, 2021) was an American professional baseball outfielder and coach. Bartee played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and Colorado Rockies from 1996 to 2001. He coached in the minor leagues and returned to MLB as a coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2017. He later coached for the Philadelphia Phillies, before rejoining the Tigers as first base coach in 2021. Early life Bartee was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and is an alumnus of Omaha Central High School. The first graduate of Omaha Central to play major league baseball, he was inducted into the Omaha Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. College career Bartee attended Creighton University, where he played college baseball for the Creighton Bluejays. He appeared with Creighton in the 1991 College World Series. Moorabin Oval
Moorabbin Oval (also known as RSEA Park under a naming rights agreement) is an Australian rules football ground in the city of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at Linton Street in the suburb of Moorabbin. The ground was most notable as the home of the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League, serving as its home ground for VFL/AFL matches from 1965 until 1992, and as its primary training and administrative base from 1965 until 2010. In 2018 the ground was once again reopened as the primary training and administrative base for St Kilda.
