Elections were held on November 14, 1994 in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. Betty Hill (politician)
Margaret Elizabeth Hill ( Dubois; May 12, 1937 – November 4, 2013) was a Canadian pre-amalgamation municipal politician in Ottawa, Ontario. She was the reeve of Richmond, Ontario and following amalgamation in 1974, was mayor of Goulbourn Township, Ontario until 1981. She also sat on the council of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. In 1994, she was elected to Ottawa-Carleton Regional Council, two years after getting a law degree. She won election by just 75 votes. She represented Western Townships Ward, which covered Goulbourn, Rideau and West Carleton Townships. She was re-elected by acclamation in 1997. In 1997, Hill ran for the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada in Nepean-Carleton, but disagreed with party leader Jean Charest over calling Quebec a 'distinct society'. Michel Bellemare
Michel Bellemare (born July 10, 1967) is a Canadian politician and lawyer. Bellemare was a member of the City Council in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from 1994 to 2010. He served as the acting as mayor of Ottawa, while mayor Larry O'Brien faced charges from May 2 to July 8, 2009 and represented Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward in the east end of the city, formerly part of Gloucester. Born in Ottawa, Bellemare is the son of former Liberal Member of Parliament Eugene Bellemare, and nephew of MP Jean-Robert Gauthier. A lawyer by training, Bellemare first ran for a seat on the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton council (RMOC) in 1994. He was successful, defeating long-standing councillor Fiona Faucher. When the RMOC was abolished with the creation of the larger city of Ottawa in 2000, Bellemare was elected to the Ottawa City Council. Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's east end, the ward is bordered to the west by Blair Road from the Ottawa River to Ogilvie Road and St. Laurent Boulevard south of it, the south by the Via Rail train line and Innes Ward, to the east by Green's Creek and Regional Road 174 and to the north by the Ottawa River. Gord Hunter
Gordon Hunter (born January 20, 1946) was an Ottawa City Councillor. He represented Knoxdale-Merivale Ward. On January 31, 2010, he announced that he would not be running re-election to city council in 2010. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Hunter was born into a military family and moved frequently during his childhood. He attended Lakefield College School, Dalhousie University, and University of Toronto, graduating in 1968. He moved to Nepean in 1968 to become a teacher at Confederation High School, and taught physical education there for thirty-one years until the school closed in 1999. He was also a national champion at orienteering. He ran for the federal Liberal Party in the 1980 federal election, but lost to Progressive Conservative Walter Baker by more than 12,000 votes. Baseline Ward
College Ward or Ward 8 (French: ''Quartier Collège'') is a city ward in Ottawa, Canada's west end. The ward covers the neighbourhoods of Bells Corners, Qualicum, Graham Park, Leslie Park, Redwood, Kenson Park, Parkway Park, Bel-Air Park, Bel-Air Heights, Braemar Park, Copeland Park, Briargreen, Centrepointe, Navaho, City View, Ryan Farm, Meadowlands and Crestview. Prior to the 2006 election, College Ward was known as Baseline Ward, and didn't include Bells Corners. It was incorporated into the city with amalgamation in 2001 (elections were held in 2000). Previously, the ward existed on the earlier Ottawa-Carleton Regional Council. The ward is represented on city council by Rick Chiarelli. He is a former Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario and a former member of Ottawa City Council, representing the Bay Ward in Ottawa's west end. Bay Ward
Bay Ward or Ward 7 (French: ''Quartier Baie'') is a municipal ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada represented on Ottawa City Council. It covers much of the western portion of the old city of Ottawa as well as some portions of what was once Nepean. The ward runs from Sherbourne and Maitland in the east to March Road in the west. The southern border is the Queensway while the northern border is the Ottawa River. The ward makes up the northern portion of the federal and provincial riding of Ottawa West-Nepean. The ward contains a number of neighbourhoods, with quite diverse populations. Some of the neighbourhoods in the ward are Bayshore, Woodroffe North, Michele Heights, Glabar Park, Lincoln Heights, Britannia, and Crystal Beach.
