1994 Idaho Vandals Football Team
The 1994 Idaho Vandals football team represented the University of Idaho in the 1994 NCAA Division I-AA football season. The Vandals, led by sixth-year head coach John L. Smith, were members of the Big Sky Conference and played their home games at the Kibbie Dome, an indoor facility on campus in Moscow, Idaho. Led by quarterbacks Eric Hisaw and Brian Brennan, Idaho finished the regular season at 9–2 and 5–2 in the Big Sky, and the Vandals again made the Division I-AA playoffs. John Lasarus Williams (29 October 1924 – 15 June 2004), known as John L, was a Welsh nationalist activist. Williams was born in Llangoed on Anglesey, but lived most of his life in nearby Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. In his youth, he was a keen footballer, and he also worked as a teacher. His activism started when he campaigned against the refusal of Brewer Spinks, an employer in Blaenau Ffestiniog, to permit his staff to speak Welsh. The 1994 NCAA Division I-A football season, play of college football in the United States at the NCAA Division I-A level, began in August 1994 and ended on January 2, 1995. Nebraska, who finished the season undefeated, ended the year ranked No. 1 in both the Associated Press and Coaches polls. Eccles Coliseum is an 8,500-seat multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, on the campus of Southern Utah University the home venue of the Southern Utah Thunderbirds football team of the United Athletic Conference and track and field teams of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Dennis Brian Erickson (born March 24, 1947) is an American football coach who most recently served as the head coach for the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football league. Paul Vincent Petrino (born May 25, 1967) is an American football coach, currently the offensive coordinator at Central Michigan University. He was previously the head football coach for nine seasons at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. Fired after the 2021 season, Petrino had an overall record of with the Vandals. Early life Born in Butte, Montana, Petrino grew up in Helena and graduated from its Capital High School. Recruited by the University of Montana in Missoula, Petrino stayed in Helena and attended Carroll College.
